Yes, it is worth reading and more than once. Maybe every 5 years or so. I read it after seeing the movie and the movie pretty much follows the book. Both are classics.

Oh, a must read! Remember a few years ago they wanted to ban the book and the film because of the (excuse me) racist overtones.

Yes I have and really enjoyed it but I loved the sequel Scarlett written by a totally different author even better. Wow it tied up loose ends and was sympathetically written in reference to the nuances of the characters’ personality traits. Very skilfully done. 🙂

I absolutely loved it. Not too historically accurate, but Scarlett is one of the best literary women I have ever read. And the transformation she went through was great to read. Plus Rhett is an amazing curr but lovable at the same time

It’s a very romanticized look at antebellum Southern life–meaning that all of the inconvenient pain of the slaves were excised. If you read this book then please also read some fiction that takes a harder look at the reality of the time.

Started it in 7th grade – struggled to finish. Read it again in 9th grade – loved it. It takes a bit to get into it, since the first 50 pages are a lot of setting and character exposition, but after that, its pretty smooth sailing. I must confess, Rhett Butler was one of my first character crushes. ?? lol
