Has anyone ever experienced judging a book by its cover and reviews but ended up loving it? Which book is it? :)

When I’m hearing lots of negative reviews about a book, I normally just avoid picking it up.
Also, I’m shamelessly a very judge-the-book-by-its-cover person. So when the cover looks cheap, I avoid it, too.
Defy the stars. Lame cover, great story.
Agree ?
I’m so bad about this but I have great luck! ? Tiger’s Curse, Flame in the Mist, The Wrath and the Dawn, A Discovery of Witches
**editing to add I read that wrong ? I picked up those books specifically because the covers were gorgeous!
I just looked up those books and the covers are really cool!!!
They’re really good stories too ? hint, hint ?
Tigers Curse is my absolute favorite!! I haven’t met anyone else that has actually read them! ?
Me either!! They definitely don’t get the publicity that a lot of books get. Is that marketing or…? They’re my FAVORITE!! I have a huge inner arm tattoo based around the yin yang medallion from Quest ?
The giver! Horrible cover for a children’s book, but what a story! It’s now one if my favourites ?
Wool, by Hugh Howey. I had no desire to read it, but Amazon just kept suggesting it over and over and over. Now I’d say it’s my favorite book.
Almost always, never judge a book by it’s reviews alone.
There was a book I read a couple years back and the reviews said it had major religious tones in it, but I gave it a shot anyway (not religious), but I really enjoyed it. It gave off different views or interpretations of various religious things. But for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of it and don’t want go through 700-ish read books on goodreads. ?
Nah, I don’t even read reviews til I’ve written mine & wanna see if anyone else agreed w me. Cover though? Yes.
