I avoided it until a year or so ago then finally, reluctantly, read it. I really can’t understand why I didn’t read it many years ago. It was brilliant.
Not only is it worth reading, but worth keeping and re-reading. Used to be required reading in public schools in the Southern U.S. It was put on a ban list a few years back but I made sure my teen-age grandchildren had copies.

I found it slow and boring and I waited for something to happen that didn’t the whole book. I am one of the few that didn’t enjoy it.
