Honestly (don’t hate me guys) I didn’t fall for them. They are good. But they were written to childish for me. The character acted to much older than he was and it was few descriptions of the people and creatures. I didn’t get through the first and I tried 3 times
They get better. Skip the first.

I read them because of fanart on tumblr and I absolutely love them. They’re not perfect, but the characters are so fun and lovable.
They are /very/ good. Don’t let the corny chapter titles fool you. Also, the first two are more childish than the later ones, imho. So if they put you off because of that, I would keep trying.

The first ones are pretty young, but that’s cause they’re middle grade books. Percy is like 11 in book one. So like harry potter it gets more mature as the characters grow. His later series, heroes of Olympus, magnus chase and trials of Apollo all deal with teenagers. The chapter titles are ridiculous but amazingly so, they constantly make me laugh.
