Yes I had reservations lol at first thought reading a children’s book and was really self conscious (stupid really)!! But anyway took the plunge and read through all the available ones within 2 weeks just so good. Found myself outside Waterstones at the releases of all the others thereafter at midnight lol was so much fun!! So yes 10000000% go for it!!

I enjoyed every book and the movies. It would depend on whether you enjoy a bit of escapism, mysticism and a stretch of the imagination.

Sorry to interrupt your post but I have a related question…. At what age have you started to read a book like this with your children? My eldest is 5 and I’m desperate to start but not sure if he would understand fully without pics etc? Xx

I first got into the books when the little girl i nannied wanted to read the first one. She was 2 1/2, her reasoning her big sister and I had read them so they must be good. We read a chapter a day after lunch. You can get an illustrated version of the books which I now use with my eldest. She’s 5.

My granddaughter read them herself from age 7. The first three books are easier reading than the ones after.

Fiona

My daughter started reading them at 7, after she’d seen the films.

The books grow with the characters. The older they get the more in-depth and descriptive the books get. It really is worth reading just one more, that’s where they all pick up! The 4th book is my favourite!
