I always have to remind myself that torch is English for flashlight not something villagers carry with pitchforks.

Yes…and learned to listen for that special, specific creak of the floor just outside my door, so I could know if I needed to switch off quickly and shove the book under my pillow!

I kept at it till sometime in high school. It ruined my eyesight ? and probably caused my lifelong insomnia…would i do it again? Totally!

I didn’t, but I used to listen carefully if my grandma would wake up at 1 or 2 am and had about 3 seconds to turn off the light untill she would see it.

Omg yes! It got so bad at one point when I had no torch I used my phone as a light…It wasn’t a iPhone ?

I did, and so did my older son. The younger one probably did too, but I never caught him at it. My older son loved re-reading Holes by Louis Sachar, a really great book.
