All of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice but The Vampire Lestat is my favorite within that series; however, Anne’s one off story Vittorio, I can read over and over again and I wish she would have written more. <3

For me, you can’t beat the original – Dracula, Bram Stoker. Mind you, having said that, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova is pretty good.

Have you read the “official” sequel to Dracula? It’s by a descendent of Bram Stoker, titled Dracula the Un-Dead. Offers an interesting and new take on the events that took place in Dracula.

Peter

@Lysa Yes I have. I quite enjoyed it.

It’s an older series and getting harder to find, but a series by Brian Lumley that starts with the “Necromancer” introduces you to the most wickedly awful vampires out there ( not the cutesy ones in most books now). My absolute favorite!!!!

Seeing all the responses has just made me realise that inspite the subject of vampires feeling well done, there are as a matter of fact not all that many good books about them. I love Rice, Ward and Hamilton?

Any top recommendations on Elizabeth Bathory? I first heard/read about her in Dracula the Un-Dead, and she piqued my interest

1
Carrie-Lynn

Right now I’m reading the House of Bathory, it’s quite good, trying to get more books about her on Amazon there’s tons, it’s weird how I got interested, I watched the movie Stay Alive and looked her up found out she was a real person, horror books and movies based on real people interest me I don’t know why.
