AmberQuestion author

Well are there any you didnt care for?

0
Jeannine

@Amber Salem’s Lot, Doctor Sleep, Insomnia, Hearts of Atlanta, Rose Madder, The Tommyknockers. I have been reading King since high school which is over 35 years. I like most of what he write and have read most of it, at least once. Hard to pick my favorite.

0
Jeannine

Cell is not a fav either

0
Debbie

Jeannine, i tried hard to read Lisey’s Story… He’s all over the place, as he sometimes does… Gave it up..

0
Debbie

Cell was good enough… ?

0
Jeannine

@Debbie I loved Lisey’s Story and read it twice. I see it as a love story or SK’s attempt at a love story.

1
Jeannine

Cell is probably my least favorite or in my least favorites. But I did finish it.

Wow…….ummmm….maybe……nope, too hard to choose one favourite. I’m more likely to be able to tell you my least favourite/s.

Jeannine

Which are your least favorites? Did you ever “hate” any of his?

1
Kylie

I don’t hate any but I didn’t enjoy Gerald’s Game, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or From a Buick 8 as much as others, even after reading them twice. Also my only DNF was blockade billy because baseball is not my thing at all and it bored me to tears.

0
Kylie

Actually i really really didn’t enjoy roadwork because it was just so slow.

Erica

I just started Salem’s lot today. My first king book!

1
Bob

It is an intense book! I read it over 30 years ago, and it still creeps into dreams. I know I should read it again as an adult…

0
Erica

I’ve been looking for a book to scare the word out of me so hopefully this’ll do it!

0
Bob

It may not have the same impact in the year 2018 as it did when I read it in the mid-80s. It is a vastly different world now.

0
Erica

Ahh well. My dads been trying to get me to read King for years so if nothing else it’ll make him happy lol

0
Lorna

@Erica if you could find the mini series they did on it thirty years ago that would be great. I still get chills when I think of certain scenes. Enjoy!

1
Erica

Lorna Atkins I’ll have to look it up!!

1
Bob

Hah! I honestly hope you enjoy it. This was the start of my long-lasting fandom of King’s books. I have read everything since. And, good on you making your dad happy esp right before Father’s Day.

0
Bob

@Lorna Yes! I just got a chill remembering the television mini-series. I was WAY too young for that, but I managed to sneak around mom and watch it.

1
Erica

I’ll let him know I’m reading it Sunday when I see him! He’ll get a good laugh and tell me how he read it when he was twelve lol he has first editions of all the classic King books. Thinking about picking him up the outsider as a gift, thoughts?

1
Bob

@Erica You definitely should!

Erica

Will do! Thanks!

The bushes in The Shining still stand out as one of the scariest parts of a book to me. And then there’s the cat in Pet Sematary. Cold chills. But the little boy vampire hovering two stories up and looking in the window is still a standout scariest moment.
