HUNGER by Jeremy Robinson. THE DIVIDE (also by Robinson) was also pretty epic, and VIKING TOMORROW (guess :D) is basically Lord of the Rings, but post-apocalyptic and with Vikings. 😀

I really liked this one too, did you know he wrote a prequel for this too.

1
Carla

@Sean yes! ?? It’s been on my TBR but I’ve haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. “The Boy on the Bridge” I think it’s called. ?

1
Sean

Carla Marie DeMedio yes that’s the one. Someone on here told me about it but like yourself, I haven’t read it yet.

1
Pete

Boy on the Bridge is every bit as good as The Girl. Really gritty and well written both, looking forward to seeing what else she comes out with

2
Teresa

Disappoined with The Girl with all the gifts tbh :/

I thought the film was really good too. Wonder of they’ll do the second one too

Really? I loved it.

1

Disappointed me too, the ending is dire

1
Ashley

Right?? So rushed and dissatisfying.

1
Teresa

Exactly!!!! x

Carla

Well, I thought it was wonderfully written, fast paced, and subtly creepy. I really wanted to know what was the cause, if it was a creature, environmental…
It was a compulsive read for me.

I’m currently reading Feed by Mira Grant, which takes place about 20 years after a zombie outbreak. I’m only about a quarter into the book but so far it’s really good.

1

@Angel It was great when it came out. I’ve read it a couple of times since, and it holds up well over time. It was post-apocalyptic before post-apocalyptic became a tired cliche. ?

2
Angel

yeah, I know it’s an older one! I have to get it! 😀

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson is a unique take on the post-apocalypse in that the story largely takes place in orbit rather than on Earth. It’s pretty heavy on the science, which puts a lot of people off if they’re not complete geeks (like me. Lol!) but the story is amazing.

1

@Hannah Then this is the book for you! ?

If you have any other sciencey books send them my way!! I love the science behind things!!

1
Paul

Stephenson’s “Baroque Cycle” is amazing; it’s three big volumes set in the 17th and 18 centuries. Among many other things, it is about the early days of scientific discovery in England. Not really sci-fi, but it is monumental!

1
Paul

Also: “Saturn Run” by John Sandford. I’m halfway through it; it‘s very sciencey and a really good first contact novel. I’m impressed with it, considering it’s Sandford’s first attempt at science fiction.
