I love retellings!!! Robin McKinley and Shannon Hale have some good ones. I love the Lunar Chronicles. Oh, and my new retelling is being published by HarperCollins in August, but you can preorder it now. It’s about the cursed daughter of King Midas:
Forest of A Thousand Lanterns and it’s sequel Kingdom of The Blazing Phoenix by Julie C. Dao. First one is the origin story of Snow White’s Evil Queen, and the second is the retelling of Snow White, both books set in Chinese setting
Splintered by A. G. Howard (Alice in Wonderland retelling), Dorothy Must Die (retelling of Wizard of Oz), The Night Dance by Suzanne Weyn (retelling of the 12 dancing princesses)- this series has a whole bunch of different retellings – the little mermaid, Cinderella, the princess and the pea, even Anastasia – and Entwined by Heather Dixon (another retelling of 12 dancing princesses).
Any of the Gregory Maguire books. What The Dickens (tooth fairy) Egg and Spoon ( Russian fairytale) Lost (Grimm fairytales) After Alice (Alice In Wonderland) Mirror Mirror Hiddensee The Wicked series
Peas and Princesses by Aleese Hughes. It’s quick and fun, but definitely a little dark. I like that type of thing, though. I think her second book is supposed to come out soon, too. I read it through Kindle Unlimited. I think she also sells other editions on Amazon.
A Court of Thorns and Roses (a play on Beauty and the Beast )
