I judge books by the summary ? Covers can be misleading, especially second hand books that don’t have one lol

Thankful the cover of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe drew me into Douglas Adams’ world.

I have picked up some really good books because I liked the cover! Case in point: Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’Easter by Lisa Patton! There are two others that follow. Picked this up one day on a whim at Barnes and Noble and keep telling everyone since to read her books!

Sometimes I choose a book by the cover. Seems to happen in airport.

Yes, some of my favorite books have been chosen that way, but I feel guilty about the uglier books….

I do to! I also wonder and admire how awesome some covers are. They totally tell the whole story in one flat picture. It must be an awesome job, designing and then also drawing/painting/photoing/designing covers. Where would you start? Yes, I love covers.

I do too, partly because I hate spoilers so much that I can’t read but one paragraph at the most of a book summary. Maybe one sentence even.

Seriously if the book says “The Joy of Cooking ” you are not going to find any formulas on atomic theory ,I guarantee you .

I quite often pick up a book because I am attracted by the cover, but I look through it and don’t always buy it.

If we’re going for true confessions, I judge wine bottles that way, too.

Well what else are you going to do? You are standing in the bookstore, and there is SO MUCH that looks interesting, compelling, world-shattering…

I think I probably read the Essex Serpent because it had such an achingly beautiful cover….and I didn’t like it at all!

The cover is what intrigues me first then I go to the reviews to see what people are saying.

The cover is probably the first judgement I make, then the blurb on the back cover and lastly I read the first paragraph. I also look at reviews and of course ~ could possibly be influenced now by this group!! ?
