I have picked up some really good books because I liked the cover! Case in point: Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’Easter by Lisa Patton! There are two others that follow. Picked this up one day on a whim at Barnes and Noble and keep telling everyone since to read her books!
I do to! I also wonder and admire how awesome some covers are. They totally tell the whole story in one flat picture. It must be an awesome job, designing and then also drawing/painting/photoing/designing covers. Where would you start? Yes, I love covers.
The cover is probably the first judgement I make, then the blurb on the back cover and lastly I read the first paragraph. I also look at reviews and of course ~ could possibly be influenced now by this group!! ?
And font!
Me too
Love a good cover and a good title.
ditto
Yep, me too!
I judge books by the summary ? Covers can be misleading, especially second hand books that don’t have one lol
Title and cover.
Guilty lol
Thankful the cover of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe drew me into Douglas Adams’ world.
Don’t we all lol
100% true
Me too.

Sometimes I choose a book by the cover. Seems to happen in airport.
Me too!
There just so beautiful ??
Yes, some of my favorite books have been chosen that way, but I feel guilty about the uglier books….
What else are they there for??
Same

Admit to being drawn in and swayed.
Me too
Me too! Have found some cracking books that way…… and some dull ones!
Ditto!!
ME TOO!
Me three!
I do too, partly because I hate spoilers so much that I can’t read but one paragraph at the most of a book summary. Maybe one sentence even.
????????????
????
????
guilty
Guilty too!
Seriously if the book says “The Joy of Cooking ” you are not going to find any formulas on atomic theory ,I guarantee you .
That’s why they change cover pics periodically! We all do!
And that is why I have been known to buy the same book twice… Hahaha
????
Haha everyone
I quite often pick up a book because I am attracted by the cover, but I look through it and don’t always buy it.
If we’re going for true confessions, I judge wine bottles that way, too.
This.
I was just about to post the same thing!
Meee too.
Me too – and wine
Aren’t we all a little like that? But yeah totally guilty
Well what else are you going to do? You are standing in the bookstore, and there is SO MUCH that looks interesting, compelling, world-shattering…
A beautiful cover is like a siren call to me.
I think I probably read the Essex Serpent because it had such an achingly beautiful cover….and I didn’t like it at all!
Agreed.
The cover is what intrigues me first then I go to the reviews to see what people are saying.
wine labels too
Me too….read some really good ones too because of it! ?
Never, never , never……only by author or review
I do sometimes.
Me too unfortunately
