Nope. But he supports me. And build my library. And tease me sometimes about my book addiction. When we win the lottery he want to build me the biggest imaginable library ever existed. With leather bound books, plushy chairs, stained glass windows and so on. I couldn’t think of a better husband. He’s a non-reader but the love of my life.
After 13 years together, and years of him giving me a hard time, my husband just started listening to audiobooks, and it’s been the been awesome. (Except for when he wants me to listen to a book when he’s in the middle of it.)
My current partner doesn’t but he wants me to read to him, funny enough I tried to get my ex boyfriend to read a novel and about 2 weeks later he turned around saying “babe I’m actually dyslexic I can’t get through this” I felt so horrible
Yes. Mostly non-fiction. When he reads fiction it is mostly classics or sci-fi/fantasy. He buys me books too, talks about books and puts up book shelves.
He reads more now than he used to just because I’ve rubbed off on him. ? He likes mostly nonfiction or books like The Revenant or The Crow Killer. I did just buy him the whole Arthur trilogy by Bernard Cornwall this weekend.
He has bad eyes though, and has a hard time reading. Plus he’s dyslexic. So I read while he plays on his iPad, or watched something horrible, like wrestling. ?
No, we’ve been together for 13 years. The only things I’ve seen him read was when he had to study for his HVAC certification. And even then he hated it.
No, I did buy him a Neil deGrasse Tyson book that he said he will actually read. He teases me about my reading but also makes plans to build me a library tower.
@Shelley, I’m glad that my hubby’s not the only one who doesn’t really like books. Reading all these posts, however, it seems that a love of books doesn’t necessarily bring, or hold, two people together.
No, but oddly enough it brings us together. He likes to fish, and I find water really relaxing so I don’t mind reading by a river/pond/beach for a few hours. We both have something new to talk about when we leave. ?
I think it’s mostly because he has dyslexia but no matter how many times I try to explain that I can get lost in a book and it takes me on journeys he doesn’t seem to understand… but when I tell him his xbox game is just a game… ??
Mine too! He whines when I take my book places with us like he isn’t going to play on his phone. He whines about book club which I go to once a month. Mofo can be a needy little bitch about sometimes.
@Michele ??? No actually I am single … A year and a half ago I was married for 5 years but got tired of fighting every time I picked up a book to read or basically doing anything independent . Turned out she had BPD and I got out of the marriage thing the last time she went to jail … Now I read whenever I want and have a happy life now …
Not as much as I wish he did, but he reads interesting choices when he does read. Right now: Einstein’s God: Conversations About Science & the Human Spirit by Krista Tippett.
Mine sort of reads. He reads when he finds something interesting while he is working or while he’s on vacation. He appreciates and feeds my addiction lol
Hubby reads as much or even more than I do. He prefers mostly nonfiction, and makes my life interesting because when a subject piques his interest, he puts his whole self into it. He reads everything he can find on the subject, does tons of research, redecorates his “Man-Cave”, and wears hats, t-shirts of the theme, and takes me to places that specialize in the subject. We’ve done Hippie theme, Civil War and WWII themes, Cowboy theme, RaceCare theme, British soccer theme; currently, we are doing Scottish/Irish theme including tracing our family trees back to Ireland and Scotland. I’m still waiting for a REAL trip to the Highlands.:)
No never……
Nope. But he supports me. And build my library. And tease me sometimes about my book addiction. When we win the lottery he want to build me the biggest imaginable library ever existed. Mine is a former *English teacher*. (I’m a former math teacher/ current programmer.) I read 10x more than she does, at *least*.
Yes. Mostly short stories. But he has read a lot of books. He struggles though as he’s dyslexic. Both our kids read too.
Nope 🙂
I intentionally seek out non-readers.
Never…. And he wonders why I love books so much.
After 13 years together, and years of him giving me a hard time, my husband just started listening to audiobooks, and it’s been the been awesome. (Except for when he wants me to listen to a book when he’s in the middle of it.)

Oh yes, we’re both bookaholics! I’m a true crime addict and Amanda is a fantasy buff. My ex’s and Manda’s ex’s were all non readers.
IDK haven’t met Mine yet. But that would be great, that’s what most people complain about is my reading to much
YES!!!
Mine reads more sci- fi / fantasy stuff. I read mainly fiction, memoirs, and cookbooks/cooking & travel books.

Mine reads in the winter almost exclusively unless a new Harlan Coben comes out, then that is read immediately.
He used to be, but not any longer.
Nope although he has some of the books in the jack reacher series that he swears he’s gonna read.
Yes, now he does, after a little encouragement, and putting a book on his nightstand, that I thought he’d enjoy. ?
No, I did buy him a Neil deGrasse Tyson book that he said he will actually read. He teases me about my reading but also makes plans to build me a library tower.

Yeah! He definitely doesn’t read as much as I do since he also plays a lot of video games but he loves reading too.

Nope hates to read but encourages me read and will pick up books at the library for me ☺️
Not at all! But he’s knowledgable…gets all that he wants to know off the internet. He’s ok with my book collection, though.
Mine is the same way
@Shelley, I’m glad that my hubby’s not the only one who doesn’t really like books. Reading all these posts, however, it seems that a love of books doesn’t necessarily bring, or hold, two people together.
My SO is a reader, he’s just not in the book format. But he can tell you where to go to research just about ANYTHING on Google, lol
Nope. Unless it has to do with his job.
He just started up again!
I wish. But he has other hobbies. So we support each others hobbies.
No
No

Nope; he moans at me saying he doesn’t see the point of it ?
That’s just evil
He doesn’t have to like reading but saying there is no point ??
Mine too. Tells me I could be a doctor or something as much as I read.

When I was married, my wife never read. She said I was wasting my time unless my reading helped me advance professionally.
I sure disagree with that thinking, it is an excellent way to relax and/ learn something new.
Exactly. Which is why I did what I enjoyed and made me happy.
Good for you
No 🙁
She’s coming around! I like to think I inspired her lol… 🙂
Sometimes
She’s the one who got me into reading! We both love reading!

Him and I are complete opposites when it comes to reading. He hates it and doesn’t understand why I read so much.
Yes, but he doesn’t read as many authors as I do 🙂
Yes, my wife was just reading a horror book…uh…the one about the husband going crazy or possessed…Anyville Horror? Idr the name.

No?
it’s a requirement 😉
No. I wish.
Not as much as I wish he did, but he reads interesting choices when he does read. Right now: Einstein’s God: Conversations About Science & the Human Spirit by Krista Tippett.
Nope, not at all. He “doesn’t have time”. I know, I know, I tell him exactly what you are thinking already about that crap statement.
Mine has been reading the same book for two and a half years now. ? “I like to savor the words.” No, just no. Lol
Mine sort of reads. He reads when he finds something interesting while he is working or while he’s on vacation. He appreciates and feeds my addiction lol
Only in school. He says that if it’s good, he will wait for the movie??
Only with a gun to his head. Sigh…
My misses loves to read as well thank goodness.
Hubby reads as much or even more than I do. He prefers mostly nonfiction, and makes my life interesting because when a subject piques his interest, he puts his whole self into it.
