All day 5 days a week. Audiobooks allow me to “read” when I have to be doing other things ie work. If I’m at home and have the chance to relax then I can read a book, if I have to do housework I can still “read”
❤️ listening to a story while on the treadmill, Precor, driving, doing floor work (stretching, abs), cleaning, doing mindless things with my hands (drawing), before nodding off… Really enjoy listening to one, while also reading another via hardcopy! ?
Yes! I usually listen to one on my way to and from work or while I’m doing things around the house. I have a book to read on my kindle for early morning with coffee and I like to read before bed.
Yes! They’ve recently enabled me to pick up my knitting again. I’ll have a beautiful shawl soon and have listened to several wonderful books at the same time! Happy I am ?
Yep!! In the car, while I’m hiking, when I’m doing housework. It’s nice to be able to ‘read’ while getting other things done. I also listen to my audiobooks at double speed, so I get through them quickly.
I have since they were on cassette tape. It’s a great way to increase reading time and some books are made for it, coming alive with the excellent voices they create.
I confess it’s a lot about the voice with me. It can be a really good story but if I don’t like the voice then can’t listen. Like a nice calm gentle voice I really like listening to Stephen Fry he is on my Calm App
I’m in the UK and haven’t listened to any audio books yet… (I’m way behind the times ?)… have recently got into crocheting though so I need to get into them more… any particular cheap apps /sites you’d recommend? ?
Always on my way to/from work
Same
I read my fiction and listen to my nonfiction/memoirs.
Me! I have so many I didn’t even know ?
I just started my first one this week and I am IN LOVE. I have been meaning to and wanting to… I listen while I drive to work.
Never! To me, books are for reading, not listening to
Yes, I love them.
All the time.

More than physical books…95% audio, 5% physical. Kindle if no other option.
Yes
Yes!!! Love them
Me too. Great on long car journeys, cooking or cleaning!
I do when I’m at the gym doing cardio or driving.
I’m an English teacher, and during the school year, it is the only way I squeeze in any reading in the car and at the gym
Yes, in the car!
Yes. I have 70 mile commute daily. Great way to pass the time. And sometimes at nite when I can’t sleep with head phones.
Yes! Right now the car is the only time I have to “read”.
What are some favorites???
Listening to the seven sisters now!
Im listening to my first audiobook where the crawdads sing!!
@Amanda
Loved that one!
Just finished my first one – 11.22.63 – it was massive but the narrator was fantastic

@Jennifer
Are you going to read the next one?
@Ami yes! I’m just waiting for my next Audible credit. Are you?
Michael C Hall Pet Cemetery!!!

Will Wheaton Ready Player One. For me its all about who is reading it.
I just found a love for audiobooks this year! It has been life changing lol!!!
I have been reading one book and listening to one each week!
Where do people get their audio books and do you pay for them
Library. Check if yours has an app.
@Sarah They can be insane expensive. GOT was almost 40 dollars
@Sarah Audible!
I get mine from the library.
@Sarah I just checked out overdrive. How do you make it work for you? Everything I want to listen to is 6weeks out if I get on the list ?♀️
Hoopla, Libby, or Overdrive from the library
Thank you, I have downloaded audible and joined my local library
@Sarah …at my local library. Doesn’t cost a penny!
In the car, “Outlander”

I am permitted to listen at work. I listen to one or two books a week at work.
Yes and I love it! I can knit or work…perfect
The only way to “read” without guilt…I made eight scrap quilts for Christmas while re-reading the Will Trent series by Karen Slaughter
The library also has RBdigital
Absolutely! I can’t read print material so I now call it listening. The books are so vivid because of the narration. I recommend them highly.
Ugg not this discussion again
scroll past!!
@Karen What’s the “discussion” ??
(As the question mark used in OP’s post was suggestive she was asking a question ??♀️)

@Christine I love falling asleep to an audiobook!
Almost daily!
I do!
Love to on our driving holidays. Makes the time go so quick!I love that my husband who never reads, loves an audio book.
Me!!!!! During my commute to and from work. ???
@Jennifer same
All the time.
I do. Makes my trip to and from work barable
Love reading a book and then listening to it
Yes love to listen and read
I do
Look for Fred Berman as a narrator! He’s wonderful! The voice makes or breaks the book….
Yes! I spend a ton of time driving my kids around so I’m always listening to an audiobook!
I love them
10 years and counting.
I have since they were on cassette tape. It’s a great way to increase reading time and some books are made for it, coming alive with the excellent voices they create.
Me!!
Yes 123 of them so far in 9months. My husband is a truck driver so he listens to them to stay awake.
I confess it’s a lot about the voice with me. It can be a really good story but if I don’t like the voice then can’t listen. Like a nice calm gentle voice
I really like listening to Stephen Fry he is on my Calm App

@Amanda Thanks. Will check it out ?
In the United States, public libraries have free apps for audio books. Not sure if that’s offered there, but worth checking into.
@Jewelie oh yes ??? I think you’re right… on the Borrowbox library app ?? I’d totally forgotten!
@Caroline, glad you all have this option. Enjoy!
Yes, while i exercise
All the time! I usually have an audio for driving or to listen to while cleaning etc and a regular book I am reading for before bed.
