I purchase a lot through ebay. There are sellers that offer b3g1 free or b4g1 free. Usually pay about $3 per book.

I used to use http://half.com/ but they shut it down and just moved everything to the normal eBay (http://half.com/ was a eBay sister company basically) but now I find that using Amazon to buy used books works just as well. I have orders dozens so far and each one has arrived exactly as it was described.

I LOVE, LOVE http://thriftbooks.com/ You do have to be patient on delivery(of course you can upgrade it like any other site) but they have so many titles in different formats and conditions to fit your liking and budget. If they dont have it then just check periodically and its bound to eventually turn up. Also, the customer service is amazing. Mess ups happen at the best of companies but they quickly fix it and make it right without ever making you feel like a lying criminal.

They also have free shipping after spending $15 and every $50 spent is a $5 off coupon emailed to you. I spent almost $300 one time and every $50 increment they sent me a $5 code and they are good for one year.

Yea thriftbooks isn’t that great for newer releases

You just have to come back to newer releases later. One day I will get on and the book is $15 and then 2 to 3 weeks later its $4 for a like new hardcover of same new released book. Newer releases require more checking in since they will go faster when the used ones roll in.

Adding another vote for Powell’s here – and if you use this specific link, 7.5% of the sale goes towards the employees’ strike fund. #ShopUnion http://www.powells.com/?partnerID=35751

I have spent SOOOOOOOOO much money through Thriftbooks (unless it’s a new book, I always check them first). I usually order the Acceptable copy unless I really want a great copy and i’ve only had an issue ONCE. The book (paperbook) was broken on the spine. Segments of pages fell out. I wrote them (email) and they shipped me a copy two grades better than the one I ordered and told me to just toss the other one. I got the new one in a couple of days and they even em’d to confirm it arrived. Every other book I’ve ordered has been spot on the quality listed or better and I’m talking a LOT of books (we’ll refrain from counting – books or dollars – b/c…well…then I’d have to jump off a roof or something.)

I ordered a bunch off http://www.bookoutlet.com/ and had no issues! Well, I don’t understand why UPS sent it the way they did, considering they’re in western NY and I’m in eastern but they went to Ohio and then Connecticut and then up to me…but thats the UPS fools, not the site.

My sister used to buy a lot of her books at Goodwill and other thrift shops. She traveled a lot as her husband was an evangelist, and almost all of the books she left me have her name and name of the town she purchased them in.
