You need to check and see if your library uses the service first. When you check out a Book amazon opens and you can choose to have it sent to your kindle or whichever device.
You can check out Kindle books with them. They only have an OverDrive app for the Kindle fire. I use Libby on my phone and send books to my Kindle through my Amazon account.
You can also use the Overdrive website too instead of the app. Sometimes I do that if I’m on my computer and need to check to see if a book is available.
I don’t think it is hard to navigate either. But I work at the library and its what we tell everyone about Libby.Personally I will stick with overdrive.
I love overdrive! When you checkout a book, if it has a kindle option it’ll give you the option to download to kindle by simply clicking a button and taking you to its amazon page! Most of them have kindle counterparts, I’ve only had a handful that would have had to be read through the app
Yes it is the same but it is different look .I found it took longer to loud pages on my internet connection so I stuck with overdrive. I work at the library and everyone says it supposed to be easier to navigate.
I use overdrive but also hoopla, freading, and axis. This was before Libby. All these are connected to your library. Does Libby incorporate all these? FYI hoopla has tons of audio books and can be borrowed for 3 weeks.
Hoopla and Axis apps are easy to download. I use hoopla most of all ebooks, audios and even music. Freading has a lot of ebooks, and I’ve found some awesome mysteries. Freading app is a bit convoluted to download. Google instructions. Took me 2 times to get it but worth it!
Libby is just a front-end app for accessing Overdrive libraries. It has some neat features like multiple account handling and in-app reading. Otherwise it’s the same thing as Overdrive.
@Lynn You use it to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from the library. I read and listen on my phone. The audiobooks I connect to the car via Bluetooth and listen on the road.
Lynn Fish As far as I know you can. I also download epub books from places like book funnel to read on overdrive. Check the App store. I’m sure it’s there.
Use Both. Each one has attributes that are wonderful to use. Borrowing books from your Library is so easy, great to browse and keeps one up-to date on when holds will be approximately ready, books check themselves: no late fees! Another great feature is if the library does not have a book you would like to read & library does not own: if purchased, you are automatically put on wish list. Both Great!
Overdrive but I only use it for audiobooks from the library.
Overdrive. I tried Libby for a brief 15 minutes and decided I liked overdrive better.
Me too
Libby is getting yo me because every single title i want to read is check out and wont be back for 10 to 17 weeks?
Libby is much better since they released it. I love how it shows all of my check outs from all of my libraries in one spot.

@Angela overdrive isn’t hard to navigate at all. I love it
I don’t think it is hard to navigate either. But I work at the library and its what we tell everyone about Libby.Personally I will stick with overdrive.
@Angela does your library host a bookclub? Mine is thinking about starting one and we could use some tips or ideas!
@Heather right now we have more kids programs than anything else.
@Angela same at our library….which is great of course….but hoping to get a bookclub going…fingers crossed!

I use overdrive. My library doesn’t offer Libby.
Libby is the same as OverDrive. It’s just a more user-friendly version.
I know that, but my library is not offered through Libby. I’ve tried a few times.
I use Overdrive and like it. I read Libby is from Overdrive, basically the same. Is it true? Any differences?
Yes it is the same but it is different look .I found it took longer to loud pages on my internet connection so I stuck with overdrive. I work at the library and everyone says it supposed to be easier to navigate.
@Angela, thank you! I stay with Overdrive and Hoopla for now.

Overdrive, yes. Love it. Library staff recommended libby, but it wouldn’t even download for me. No issues with overdrive though.

Overdrive! Love it
Yep. I don’t have room on my phone for Libby though.

I use Overdrive for audio books
Libby!! Its great. Does anyone know what the difference of the two is?
Yes apparently from what I was told is Overdrive is merging or moving to Libby
Libby is just a front-end app for accessing Overdrive libraries. It has some neat features like multiple account handling and in-app reading. Otherwise it’s the same thing as Overdrive.
Love the multiple account feature. Got my local library in Nowhere, SD, and a major library in Fairfax County, Virginia.
I use Overdrive a LOT.
I use overdrive
I do, all the time!
Use both.

@Lynn You use it to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from the library. I read and listen on my phone. The audiobooks I connect to the car via Bluetooth and listen on the road.
@Brigitta so u can put this app on an iPad?
Lynn Fish As far as I know you can. I also download epub books from places like book funnel to read on overdrive. Check the App store. I’m sure it’s there.
I love it!!!!!
I use overdrive! It’s just the older version of Libby
Is this just for phone or for the computer also?

Overdrive, rbDigital & Hoopla. All great. Hoopla limits the number of checkouts depending on the plan your library has.
