My friend that just helped me move was blown away by how many books I have. He told me that he hasn’t read a book since high school and doesn’t really have the attention span to (he has ADHD so it’s understandable). My sister that I live with reads but it takes her about half a year to finish one book.
I think the lack of bookish friends irl is why I have a bookblr and bookstagram ?

I do. But I just make my husband listen to me, even though he doesn’t read either. I figure I listen to his hunting stories, he can listen to my book stories.

I have that problem, too. It really is a void in my life, not being able to talk about classic literature with my friends, and I can’t even talk to them about the problem itself, because I would be admitting to my friends that I need smarter friends. Sigh.

I have really smart friends who make me strive to better conversations.

Thankfully best friend reads a lot too. But in my college days I was literally the only one in the library who would sit there and read for pleasure. I would be soo rich if i would get a dollar every time someone looked at me strangely. *sigh*

All the time. All of my close friends are more into games and anime, which doesn’t bother me. It’s nice hearing them talk about it and experiencing it with them. But it sucks not being able to properly share my excitement or rage when it comes to books or shows lol.

I have friends and relatives that read, but we don’t share the same taste so discussing books is difficult.

Sadly yes.But the worst part is people get confused about reading and studying. When I say I read in my pastime, they look at me like I spend my whole day in academic studies.

It’s not lame. 😉 It’s normal for people to want to share their experiences, even if it’s a story in a novel. You talk about tv shows with each other, why not books? This is why so many people join book clubs. Don’t feel lame. <3
