I love Mrs. Pollifax! I would also highly recommend the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton. They should be read in order. Some of the best I’ve ever read!
I love cozies…….right now I am on Mary Daheim’s Bed and Breakfast series. Love Leslie Meiers Lucy Stone series….Joanne Fluke……Diane Mott Davidson….gosh, the list goes on lol
I’ve been reading many cozy mysteries the last few years, trying them out. Basically it should be a female amateur doing the detecting. And usually they have some major background theme like librarian, book club, quilting club, someone who runs a bakery, etc. and can then include recipes or instructions for quilt patterns, etc. I find them fluffy, not too much meat. And I find myself questioning how this person is allowed to go around asking all these questions of people – she’s not a cop or authorized in any way. Mostly they tend to irritate me one way or another. It is hard to find really good mysteries like Agatha Christie. Hercule Poirot was hired by people to investigate and Miss Marple was often asked to assist one of the people involved so they had some authorization for their investigation, so NOT cozy mysteries. Some are better than others but they just don’t grab me the way some of the older mystery stories do.
Love cozies! ❤ some of my favourites include @Krista‘ Domestic Diva Mysteries and Paws and Claws Mysteries , @Roberta a.k.a Lucy Burdette’s Key West Food Critic Mysteries, to name a few…my list is long lol
The gaslight mysteries by Victoria Thompson are very good and transport you to that time period. The female protagonist is a midwife and she’s a special friend of the chief inspector of the police dept and assists in murder cases.
Occasionally. I like Sarah Graves, Lucy Arlington, and a couple of others, and I have read all of the Lyn Hamilton (she has since passed away) and Julie Kaewert mysteries.
I love the Laura Childs Teashop mysteries, it got me into really good tea, by the second book I got to figure out who the murderer is by the format of the writing, which is pretty easy…it’s always one she meets and LEAST suspects, although a couple of times I didd not guess and got quite a surprise. I really love the characters and the settings and the tea recipies.
Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs. Pollifax series is my favorite.
Love to read cozies. Are you familiar with the website https://www.cozy-mystery.com/ – fabulous resource!
What a great site
Yes, this site has got me reading many different series lol
I’ve just downloaded a free book Baking is Murder by Kathy Cranston
I really like that site. It gives the members of my cozy book club great ideas about what we should read next
Yes , I like to have a read that’s a bit light hearted, I love Mrs Pollifax, not sure when I last read one, I’ll have to see if I’ve missed any
I’ve never read Mrs. Pollifax but I have listened to her on audible. I enjoy doing that while I do my knitting or other needlework.
Yes, I like the Agatha Raisin ones. I just started the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books ?
Oh yeah! I’ve read about eight or nine of those too!?
The author who writes Agatha Raisin also writes the Hamish Macbeth mysteries, another cozy series.
I want to read those too!
Now I am gonna have to give the ones everyone is mentioning a try.
What’s a cozy mysterious story?
??????
I love them – especially the titles by Joanne Fluke, Dorothy Howell and Livia Washburn to name a few.

Yes, they make an excellent palate cleanser after a dense book.
For sure, they are light, easy and fast. And entertaining!
I’ve read some–the Hamish Macbeth ones. Are Agatha Christie books counted as Cozy Mysteries?
I think so, in my opinion A.C. is the first lady of cozy mysteries?
makes sense!??
I almost bought a Hamish Macbeth mystery yesterday. Are they good? I’m tempted to go back for it.
@Germaine They’re pretty fun—yeah! The first ten or so we’re better than later I kind of moved on, but yes!
Haven’t read a cozy in a good while. It may be time for one again. Thanks.
I am not sure if Agatha Christie is or not, but I love her books.
I love cozies…….right now I am on Mary Daheim’s Bed and Breakfast series. Love Leslie Meiers Lucy Stone series….Joanne Fluke……Diane Mott Davidson….gosh, the list goes on lol
I do find that I have to read some more “intense” books in between them however.

Yes, love many of them especially when they are “themed”. Bookstore or library themes are great!
I do. I love my cozies. I’ve tried to write them, but they’re not easy.

Sometimes I do not feel well and the cozy mystery distracts me without making me think too hard. I like Maggie Sefton’s knitting shope books.
