Depends on availability and the size of the print. The small mass market paperbacks can be a bit tiresome sometimes. Also if a favourite book series or author is first released in hardback before it’s available in softcover, I’ll buy the hardcover.
I love hard back but they are so expensive. I usually only buy the ones of authors I love. Occasionally, there is a book that comes out that I just can’t wait for paperback. But I do say that paperback is way easier to take along in your purse or to the beach.
I prefer hardcovers, but don’t mind paperbacks.
Both but mostly paperbacks since its more handy and affordable
Hardcover
Hard cover. Especially library hard cover. I want to put that plastic on all of my books at home.
I tend to buy paperbacks to save money, but otherwise have no preference.
Paperback ?
Paperback more comfortable
Soft cover. Hard cover gets heavy and hurts when your book face plants you lol
Both, but softcover easier to hold when you have weak wrists
Paperback ?

If I had to choose it would be hard cover… So many reasons
