Me personally I love to buy books ? ?
I love buying them, but my bank balance prefers me to borrow from the library
I can relate!
Buy them
Buy – I love to see my collection grow, revisit them and also have them on hand for others to browse when they’re round
Borrowing, I don’t need to read the newest title straight away. I have found that most books can be sourced through my library so I just add to my TBR list and keep on reading.
Smart. I should do more library check outs….but I give in to the temptation of expanding my collection. lol
Buy them
Me too!
I like to go to the library. Then I don’t waste my money if they turn out to be bad, and I can spend money on other things!
That is what I try to do because it sucks when you buy a book and find out that the thing is bad. Then you end up getting rid of it. Albeit someone else gets to read it, but you wasted money.
I like to buy but i so borrow from the library too, but if i read a book i really liked from the library i will buy it!
I love buying them but I’d say Both because libraries may have the rarest literary gems…
I love building my library.
Me too!
I’d love to be able to buy them all. I buy ones I particularly like or if they’re really cheap at the time, but most often I’ll borrow from the library. Now…if I particularly like a book I read from the library, I’ll go out and buy a copy for my collection
Both! I actually buy most of my books from the library. Win win. Lol
Love this answer. Also I had to write in here that I love your cat. Mine is black and white. Add me if you want. Books and cats. Can’t go wrong there.
Currently I prefer borrowing. I donāt have the space (or the funds) to buy every book I want to read! Plus this way I can decide if I liked the book enough to eventually buy it.
Buy and borrow from Library. I am not a big borrower of books from friends. I worry about being so careful as it isnāt mine. Donāt get me wrong. Iām careful w/ all books, just more worried about friends.
I love to buy them. However budget dictates that I borrow from the library most of the time.
I do both
Both ??
š
Library…Losing my job was an eye opener on how much I would spend on books. Do you realize how much you save when you visit your library??? My library tells me how much I saved due to borrowing from them. I then donate $1.00 for every book, dvd, or other materials that I borrow. It’s a bargain.
My library does that too! Also if we want a just released book we can request a book and more times than not our library will purchase it. ?
@Linda Same here except for the Cozy Mysteries. If they purchased every Cozy Mystery the towns would probably go bankrupt lol
I love to buy but always seem to find one or ten that I want to read in the library too! X
I love to buy as well as borrow.
Borrowing, I don’t re-read and don’t want or have room for books.
Spot on
same here. Like to buy them and own them š
Buying books
Borrowing from lib is fab until you hit a slump and get behind..=££££?
I prefer buying because then it’s yours to keep. If you borrow you need to return it.
I love to buy them and watch my personal library grow, friends and family then borrow off me
Library!
I love to buy as well as borrow books from the library
Borrowing
Buying Books
The library
I borrow, mostly, only because all of my bookshelves (in virtually every room) are full. Now I only buy classics, books for my grandkids and other keepers that will be reread.
I used to buy more but now I go to the library more.
I just went today and got four for free?
Love to buy. ?
Buy books ???
Mainly buy but I do borrow too especially if I’m not sure what I’ll think of it
I never, regardless of author, buy a book outright. I borrow it from the library first. If I liked it and could honestly see myself rereading it, then I’ll buy it, finances permitting of course. I’ve wasted enough money when I buy the book first. Not to mention, sometimes you can buy the book used, but in really good shape still off of Amazon, Powell’s, exc.
i want my own now that i can…..
I love to buy but can only afford the library right now.
Buying.
Love both. I love living in a space that includes books as a vital part of its atmosphere and aesthetic…but I also get so giddy when I use the library. To me, they symbolize so much of what is good about humanity — the sharing, the sense of community, the valuing of knowledge and art. Plus, I could never in a million years afford all the books I want.
I borrow first and if I like the book, I’ll buy it.
But I’ll also buy books secondhand by the cartful.
Both….buy cheap at garage sales/thrift stores or used books stores, usually $2 or less otherwise i tend to borrow from the library as i rarely ever re read books.
I love to buyāand exchange via Little Free Libraries.
Buying.
Library. I’ve run out of room (not to mention money)! At this point in my life (age 50), I’ve decided that the only books I will buy are the ones I will use for reference in the future (mostly American history), or love so much that I will likely read them again.
Buy, buy, buy!!!!
I always get more books at the Library.. can’t afford to buy books
Buy
Love to buy!
Buying. You can keep them if you fall in love.
Buying only… do not like to give them back. Must be mine. All mine.
WHAT an attitude! i love it.
I am a collector/hoarder so I love to buy books.
http://bookoutlet.com/ i swear by them……18 books for 35.00 with free shipping
????
THANK YOU!
clcik on the SALE section and on the left you’ll find categories….
I have that instant gratification issue, so i end up buying everything
Both.
I prefer to borrow as it costs me $0.
Buying- but I get audio books from the library.
Both, buying when I have the money, borrowing when I am broke.
Definitely buying
I have a personal library at home . My last count was 1203 books since end of last year, Will buy my first book tomorrow.
thats quiet a lot! i only have 36 ??
Yassmina……catch up girl
Iām getting there ?
Both. I read two books at a time. One from the library and one from my personal collection.
Buying
I buy. Once I read a book I want to keep it forever. ?
So glad I am not the only person that does this.
I even kept all my college text books instead of selling them back to my school. Until I had to move across the country and couldn’t take them with. Haha
I still have all mine too. I hope I don’t have to move across the country.
I borrow a lot, but if itās a new book by a favorite author I usually buy it
I buy used books and use the library for kindle books
I must possess them!! Even if I get it at the library, if it is halfway decent I end up buying it.
I adore creating my own personal library in my room with books, but I don’t buy new I’ll go to used stores to find ones with character. Unless it’s newer series that’s when I’ll buy new lol
Buying books then donating them to the library
Definitely buy them
Borrow and then start searching for it at thrift sales to add to my permanent collection if I absolutely love it.
I do both but mostly libraries
Buy, I never return on time
Borrow, mostly ebooks
Buying them. makes for a good home library
My preference would be to buy, but my finances scream borrow from the library.
It’s hard for me to return the book to the library once I finished reading it. So I prefer to buy them and keep them in my book shelf.
Buy when there’s a sale
buying books and getting them as present :3 <3
Buying them!!!
I prefer buying them, then after reading them, passing them on to one of my 3 kids. Theyāre all readers. But buying used books ? is a preference also.
I buy books. I go to the library and take pics of the books I want to buy so I remember, but for some reason I’m just not a borrow books person.
I am a sucker for buying the physical book. Yet I got to admit that I am trying to steer towards digital copies.
I borrow. š
Buying them for my own library at home ?
I prefer buying?
Borrowing,u can read as many books u want without .
I love to buy books. I own too many, but I love my collection.
is there something as owning to many books?? O.O
@Silvana, nope. š
@Csilla thank you i got scared there xD
It’s okay. ?
I misspoke, I donāt own enough bookcases ??
@Erin oke that made it all better š
Yeah, thatās better phrasing! ?
Both! <3
Buying!! š
Both
I prefer to buy them.
Both. At times when it is difficult to read a book I can dispose it easily back to library. But when it is fabulous I will buy it for my little library to re read it
Buying
Public Library has it all!
Buying books to have my own series collection
Generally I love buying books, however due to lack of money and space, my local library tends to see more of me then any local bookstores.
Buying
Both.
I’d borrow from library more, but with budget cuts they don’t buy as many of new titles & takes a while to acquire after published. Hence, I buy more than borrow.
Buy!
I listen to audio books but if I find one I like I will buy the actual book, even if I don’t read it.
I buy books when I am sure that this book will be a good addition to my collection of books. But I also love borrowing from the library because there are lots of amazing books especially of great classic authors of different countries translated into English that I love to explore.
Do both. Taking books out of your local library… gives them the ‘footfall’ they are measured against and will help prevent closures and money reductions …
Buying. I feel like thatās dumb but also itās just nice owning them
library books = germs …..am i the only freak who thinks like this?
nope i feel the same way xDD
It builds immunity!! ?
Yep. Never heard that concern before . . . and in few days I will be 70 yrs. old.
Buy
Buy
I generally borrow, but I like owning books too!
Not always financially possible to buy, plus I want to keep my local libraries open!
Buying…
I love to buy them. Iām
possessive.
Library
both
Buy, I only borrow ebooks and audiobooks
both
Buy
I love buying books, but I also go to the library.
Both.
Borrowing
Buy, buy, buy, lecture from hubby and then buy some more.
I love to buy but I only keep books that I absolutely love or that I will reread so I go to the library frequently!
Library….figured I spent thousands of dollars on books and giving them away while I was employed. Now that I am unemployed it is my turn to get free books. Although I do sometimes still buy paperbacks and then donate them to the library.
I’d say buy them, but that costs money that I don’t have.
When shopping I look for the less mainstream authors & titles. Ones the library less likely to have. Found some great ones over the years.
