See I read books from women, and turn away from a book if it’s written by a male. I think women right better romance. and if the story is from a girls prospective I think they are written better from a woman as well and even if it’s from a makes prospective.. I don’t know why I’m a author snob… lol..
I tend to read more from men authors… Richard Paul Evans, David Baldacci, John Green… I rarely ever read a woman author… Francine Rivers would be the only exception. No reason behind it… Just now realized that I read mostly men! I guess once I find an author I like, I stick with him:)
I think it depends on what genre I’m reading. I love good books by Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn or David Baldacci but I also love Diane Chamberlain, Marie Force or Emily Giffin so I guess I read both. Depends on my moods.
Strange. His genre is strangness. Neverwhere, American Gods are his best in my opinion. Terry Pratchet is good too! The Hogfather: death decides to take a vacation and try to be human. The two authors also got together and wrote Good Omens, a parody of the Omen.
I can’t remember the first time the rats are introduced. To be honest I couldn’t make it through the first book the first time either! Neithet could my husband or my aunt. A couple of years later I did, husband too, and then we blew through the series. The middle books are best but 2 and 3 were good too!
I prefer books with female main characters–mostly thrillers. I tend to read more female authors, but if a male writer can pull it off, I’m not opposed.
I also read alotta men book authors like max Lucado,Charles F. Stanley, and others so I reckon it don’t have to matter who you read…male or female… As long as your learning something productive, enjoyable and relaxing.
Books don’t necessarily have to be about learning or even relaxing. I’m all about edge of your seat thrillers or Sci fi. It was like what that lady commented the other day about fluff. She never answered my question about what she considered fluff.
It seems a negative word to me. If romance is what you like, then okay! I guess as a librarian, im just happy to see readers. The five laws of librarianship includes “every book its reader” and “every reader his or her book”
I prefer a GOOD book over a fluffy book. And looking at my book shelf I might have to say I read more men. I love Action, Mysteries, Trial/Court, Crime….maybe those have more men writers?
I love romance and I call them fluff! They aren’t exactly books for deep thinking. They are pure enjoyment. I’ve never sat one down to ponder what I’ve just read, I just devour the story in all of its fluffy goodness! I’ve always said they’re like candy. It’s not a steak dinner but sometimes it’s just what your craving! But I do consider them GOOD books!
Ugh, see? This is what I’m talking about. I know that I ranted last night about some remarks in a book I read that I found distasteful, but others may not agree with my assessment and that is fine. What I don’t like is how people say “I like GOOD books, not fluff”. To another reader, what you call fluff, others will call good. All you’re doing is making people who like to read a good romance feel like they’re not as good of a reader as you. They are embarassed to come to me at the reference desk to ask if we have a certain romance author’s books. It’s rather snobby, if you ask me
You know, I couldn’t stand 50 Shades of Grey for so many reasons but it got people reading who haven’t in a long time. It got people talking, and maybe it got some older marriages heated back up again!
I didn’t read Harry Potter for the longest time because it was a kids book. When I finally began it and realized how fantastic it was I learned my lesson! As long as a person is reading!
I use to read James Patterson and Nicholas @Sparks but now it is mostly women.
Mostly from women, but every once in a while I’ll read books from James Patterson, Jason f. Wright, or Nicholas Sparks….
I have read more books written by women, but I think it is a sub-conscious thing. But, I don’t really have a preference when I go looking for books.
In the past I read Lori Foster, Carly Philipps, Susan Andersen, Nora Roberts and Susan Mallerys book. Now I have the Outlander series.

as well as life in general… I guess the way I see woman are more intune to feelings and life.
Subconsciously I grab female authors
I’m pretty 50/50 and don’t have much of a preference.
I tend to read more from men authors… Richard Paul Evans, David Baldacci, John Green… I rarely ever read a woman author… Francine Rivers would be the only exception. No reason behind it… Just now realized that I read mostly men! I guess once I find an author I like, I stick with him:)
It doesn’t matter to me, but I do tend to read more women.
I just always wonderd lol. thanks for answering my weird questions
It wasn’t weird.
lol.. good I was hoping i wasn’t coming off as rude or close minded
No I didn’t realized I prefer male authors in the past.
There’s a cute Christian romance written by a man that I like called Flabbergasted by Ray Blackstone that I totally recommend
It sounded cute so I checked and our library has it. Can’t wait to start it 🙂
Blackston I meant
Doesn’t matter to me
It doesn’t matter to me. I have found some really great indie Authors that are male and write brilliant stories.
I read about 50/50
I think it depends on what genre I’m reading. I love good books by Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn or David Baldacci but I also love Diane Chamberlain, Marie Force or Emily Giffin so I guess I read both. Depends on my moods.

I read more that are written by men, but many of them have female pen names.
I like both of them.
I don’t really have a preference, but when I look over my reading journal, I find that I read books by female authors much more than males. Hmmmmm……
I prefer males usually if it’s a mystery or a thriller. Otherwis female authors.
I read both, but I also believe I read more women

Strange. His genre is strangness. Neverwhere, American Gods are his best in my opinion. Terry Pratchet is good too! The Hogfather: death decides to take a vacation and try to be human. The two authors also got together and wrote Good Omens, a parody of the Omen.
Anita Blake fan?
I read her first book couldn’t get over the Wererats (i think it was in that book guilty pleasures right?) but I’m going to try Anita Blake again
I can’t remember the first time the rats are introduced. To be honest I couldn’t make it through the first book the first time either! Neithet could my husband or my aunt. A couple of years later I did, husband too, and then we blew through the series. The middle books are best but 2 and 3 were good too!
And Sherrilynn Kenyon is good too. A little fluffy with the romance but the books are good! Diff take on vamps.
Doesn’t matter to me.
Doesn’t matter
No matter
It doesn’t matter

It doesn’t matter. What impresses me is a male author that can write great female characters and female authors that can write great male characters.
It doesn’t matter
Mostly women; but do have a few male authors that I like.
It doesn’t matter
Doesn’t matter as long as it’s a good book
I prefer books with female main characters–mostly thrillers. I tend to read more female authors, but if a male writer can pull it off, I’m not opposed.
Doesn’t matter as long as its a good read
Doesn’t matter
It really doesn’t matter, however i tend to read more women authors
Probably a little more women, but I enjoy both.
I do notice I read mostly female, it could be I don’t read murder or thrillers , will read Mary h. Clark and daughter,.

I guess fluff would be like romance.
It seems a negative word to me. If romance is what you like, then okay! I guess as a librarian, im just happy to see readers. The five laws of librarianship includes “every book its reader” and “every reader his or her book”
I like all kinds of different types of books.. just depends on my mood
I prefer a GOOD book over a fluffy book. And looking at my book shelf I might have to say I read more men. I love Action, Mysteries, Trial/Court, Crime….maybe those have more men writers?

Oh wait. I dont think that was to me. My bad.
No, sorry, it was to Pam. I think we posted close together
No biggie! I wouldnt want to offend a librarian. You guys are the gatekeepers to paradise!
ROFL! That’s awesome! You made my day
You know, I couldn’t stand 50 Shades of Grey for so many reasons but it got people reading who haven’t in a long time. It got people talking, and maybe it got some older marriages heated back up again!

Doesn’t matter but it seems like the majority of books I read are written by women. Just turns out that way.
Both ❤
Both are fine but majority seem to be written by females. James Patterson & Nicolas Sparks are two men I love their books
Women
Equal opportunity reader as far as that goes. It’s the content where I get picky.
I like both. But most of my favorite authors are women!
Both. I prefer women just a tad more

Doesn’t matter to me!!! Love both

Doesn’t matter as long as it’s a good book. But a lot of people do tend to prefer male authors. At least they seem to sell better
It doesn’t really matter however women tend to always happy a happy ending as where men tend to make them realistic
Doesn’t matter, as long as it’s a good book.
I will read either, but, my favorite stories are about strong women doing interesting things. I think women are better at writing for women.
Not picky
