I jot down favorite quotes, characters, places, and sometimes recipes.

I do. I can’t read without a pencil in my hand. 28 years as a college professor caused it.

Of course, always. I mark places in the book and I write down thoughts/ideas in a notepad. Otherwise it’s like noticing a gem and not picking it up.

I never show my books to anyone, for the simple reason I write in it; hence it like me talking to myself, underline things I like. Afraid people may think I’m strange. Helps me to recall what I have read too.

Yep! I jot down favourite quotes. Sometimes, the name of characters just to avoid confusion. Lol ?

that’s a good idea actually! About the names. I recently read a book with several characters whose name started with H. I got so lost eventually. I tend to always remember just a few letters in the beginning and orient this way, so with several characters beginning with H (and one was a dog!) I was very confused. Should have just written them down in the very beginning.

I do the names thing as I go along (this book spans 4 generations over a century so that’s definitely helping!) I put a little tab on quotes that I like then go back, re read them and write down the ones that I still like. Then I end with my own little private review/thoughts on the book ?. I know some people love to write on their books etc I just can’t do it ?

Not so much ideas but I always take note of my favorite quotes. I have a spreadsheet of thousands of quotes from my favorite books. Then I will go and re read them, just to remember what the book was like
