I did not hear about it … Can you tell me what this book is about?

@Sonja hmm it is a 12 book series following an 18th c not so rich gentleman called ross poldark. He comes back from the American war of independence, to beautiful Cornwall where the books are set, (he is British) to find that the woman he loved and believed to be betrothed to, is marrying his cousin Francis. And you follow his life, and that of others who over the course of the books you get to know, both gentlemen and common people, for 12 really really good books. I love his writing. It draws you in and unlike some books, knows how much detail to provide and when to stop. I love the characters. They are alive to me. I feel then everyday even now. Some books.. The characters live in me always.

There is also a tv series. Both an old and new one. New is better but the books are 100x better!

Inspired by the life of Sally Ann Barnes 1858-1961 born into slavery. Sally tells her story to her nurse in the old folks home who keeps a journal about it. Her granddaughter years down the road discovers the journals in the attic and goes on a search herself about Sally’s life and her relationship to her grandmother who was white.

Every few weeks this question gets posted, and often there are the same old suggestions. This particular post has lots of different suggestions! It’s why I love this page so much! ❤️ Here’s my recommendation that is regularly repeated on here, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
