I still have her book (signed), among many others now.
Signed copy of Watership Down by Richard Adams found by chance in an English bookshop 😃

Several – Kinfolks by Gurney Norman Divine Right’s Trip by Gurney Norman Approaching Oblivion by Harlan Ellison Dance of Dragons by George RR Martin The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman Redshirts by John Scalzi … …. I have a small bookshelf full – there’s a few local bookstores who net great authors when they are nearby and I tend to grab them when I can stand in line. Sometimes just to hear an author speak makes me happy – and if you have never read Gurney Norman, check him out – the top 2 I listed by him are great, but very different books. I argue that you could but Divine Right’s Trip between On The Road and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and you would have a good, solidly odd road trip book collection.
Homer and Langley by E. L. Doctorow.

My husband once stayed in the “Author’s Suite” at a well known Chicago hotel. It contained wall-to-wall bookcases filled with books. Every book was signed by the author, who apparently stayed there when they were on their book tour. Oh how I wish I had been with him on this trip!
We need to know the name of this hotel.
Me too. Go to the Walter Library on U of Mn. Camps. That will make your heart happy too since you missed your husband’s trip.
the hotel was the Ambassador West, back in the early 90’s. He stayed there regularly for work and on this particular trip, he got the upgrade because they were fully booked.

“We Thought We Heard The Angels” by James C. Whittaker. The complete epic story of the ordeal and rescue of those who were with Eddie Rickenbacker on the plane lost in the Pacific….I was at an estate sale. I did not know until later that the sale was a single military man who never married. HIs military uniform was still hung in a closet with his black/shiny shoes below. I came across this book, signed by the author. I was totally amazed! I love true stories, and this one is even signed by the author! I purchased it for a small price, can’t remember. Maybe 5 to 10 dollars. I still can’t believe it. It is an excellent read on survival. You could probably read it in 1 or 2 sittings. Ask an older person “Who is Eddie Rickenbacker?” See what you find. I have done this and it is amazing how big this story was at that time, but never made it in the history books…that I know of. Although Eddie Rickenbacker is in the history books somewhere …as I think he set a record for how many enemy planes he shot down in WWII. Awesome story…..very good read!! ..and I still have it!!

This is the one for me. Harry Crosby was a much beloved lead navigator in the 100th Bomb Group, flying B-17’s out of England during WWII, and my dad was in the same Group. Since my dad, like most Vets of that era, never spoke much about the War, after he passed I was left to try to put together some of his military history. I encountered Col. Crosby at a book signing in Maine in 1993, and, not only did he sign his book and dedicate it to my dad, but, he put me in touch with some surviving members of my dad’s crew so that I was able to get some personal stories of their time together. “A Wing and A Prayer” is a wonderful history about the bombers flying over Europe during WWII, and, this copy is one of my most treasured possessions.
Awesome story Libbyl God Bless your Dad!

The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss
Unbroken, autographed by Louis Zamperini himself.
I have a book on US Ski Resorts signed by Billy Kidd, even got to ski with him a few times at Steamboat.
I have a number of prized autographed books, but I think my favorites are books by Neil Gaiman and Connie Willis, two of my favorite authors. I also have a prized book autographed by Alice Walker. It is a nonfiction book. In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens, but I also have read and loved several of her novels.
Outlander is one of my most prized autographed books.
I have read it, and I am now reading Dragonfly in Amber, but unfortunately, I never met the author or got an autographed copy of the book.
I was fortunate to meet her and got a book signed, but you can get a signed copy from The Poisoned Pen. It’s her local bookstore. They allow online orders. She then goes in and will sign and personalize them. https://store.poisonedpen.com/?q=h.tviewer&filt%5Bfeatured%5D=+Features&filt%5Bfeatured_2%5D=+Autographed+Editions&using_sb=featured
I worked at a bookstore when Outlander was sent out as an ARC. I loved it so much, I sent her a fan letter. She sent a lovely thank you note and the first three chapters (typewritten… because it was a million years ago!) of Dragonfly in Amber. I have a lot of signed books but this is one of my most prized!
@Kate, that is a treasure! Incredible!
@Andi Thanks for the info about the bookstore.
I have a bunch, quite a few that were signed editions, but these are my favorites, I had to scrunch them into one photo. The American Gods is a first and signed, sadly not to me, but my ex. I am also stupidly happy that I have my two favorite authors both on one book. My absolute most prized ones I have to post separately though.
Husband surprised me with a signed Fahrenheit 451 on our first (paper) anniversary.
So happy for you. Happy Anniversary.
Ok, these two are my absolute most prized. The French Chef (along with a few others she signed) was my Mom’s and I inherited them from her when she passed. I also have a hilarious and wonderful photo of my Mom and Julia together, and Julia’s zipper on her pants is down. 🤣 And the other is Exene Cervenka. Poet, writer, singer. She was one of my idols and meeting her and finding out how nice she is was one of the highlights of the last 10 years.
I have a one from Nicole Krauss and one from Pat Conroy, both were such sweet people to meet!
3 books autographed by Pat Conroy. Especially like his cookbook . Reads like a novel.
Be still my ❤️what a phenomenal writer. What is w/so many authors writing inc sentences and ending sentences w/a preposition?
One of my most memorable moments was hearing him speak at a luncheon on Hilton Head Island.
Loved Conroy. Met him several times here in Columbia. He was a gracious fellow and loved his readers.
Several by Jack Whyte – from his Camulod Series
Unbroken autographed by Louis Zamperini, about whom the book is written. A prized possession!
Just met Michael Capuzzo (non-fiction writer) and got him to sign his book Close to Shore. We read his book in AP Lang at my school. I also have a book signed by coaching legend Dean Smith.
A Lesson Before Dying- Ernest Gaines

To kill a mockingbird!
The President’s Shadow Brad Meltzer. My daughter had him sign it for me at BookCon. He wote, Marilyn, Your daughter loves you very much.
He is so good at personalizing his autograph. He grabbed the book he signed for my husband to add something more personal when he found out my husband had to miss him because his mother had passed. When I told him I bought the Jane Goodall book for my daughter because she is the honorary head of USC’s Occupational Therapy School, he wrote “your mother is very proud of you”❤️
Many, many. “The Water Is Wide” signed by Pat Conroy, “Walking With The Wind,” signed by Rep. John Lewis, among them.
“Bad Haircut” and “Mrs Fletcher” by Tom Perrotta.

Insert plug here… name of book and where we can find it
@Derek Have you considered self publishing on Amazon?
@Jolie, I have. I intern with an agent, and I read books on a daily basis. Some really good ones, too! Before I’d seriously consider the self route, I’d want to be fairly certain the readers were there, you know? This book is like a kid I’ve raised from a toddler. *Grin.* But you can’t ever really be certain readers will pick your book up. A chicken or the egg conundrum. *Grin.*
@Jolie Before I’d consider it again. Wrote and published a collection of poetry called Prose From A Grandson To A Senior Fellow for my grandfather. It was the last book he ever read. He passed away in 2003.
@Jolie Thanks so much! You are right about this group. It’s the book club I’ve always hoped for! And thanks for the like on my page! Hopefully the book will be out soon, and I’ll be able to autograph it for you!
The Nix by Nathan Hill
“The Black Stallion”, by Walter Farley

All eight of the “Outlander” series signed by Diana Gabaldan
Through My Eyes by Ruby Bridges
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and My Reading Life by Pat Conroy. Treasures from my favorite authors.
Any thing by Conroy
@Joy agree. An author’s dream is to write one sentence like Pat and a reader’s euphoria is to read those words. The literary world lost a great one.
@JoDee Grazie Grazie your pearls brought me to tears. He made words dance his grammar impeccable engaging this reader w/opening paragraph As a prof I am forever dismayed @ students inability to write We lost a good one indeed.
Thanks so much. I loved everything he wrote but South of Broad was my least favorite.
