Never really think about it – as long as the story is good, I’m happy

Yes, pace matters. I have read a few novels in which the pace was so slow that almost nothing happened in the first 50-60 pages. Reader gets bored if the pace is slow, whereas it keeps the reader engrossed if things happen a little fast.

I prefer fast paced, but have read plenty of slower books that were still great.

I think it depends on the genre of the book. Crime and thriller books i prefer to be steady or fast as otherwise it takes me longer to get into them.

Fast paced. But if its a slow, poetic, beautiful novel like Virginia Woolfe’s To The Light house, its still beautiful to read. Crime fiction has to be super gripping and fast.

I think content dictates pace, it is part of the writers job to decide the path and speed they want the reader to go, getting them to keep turning those pages.

Slow paced is better for bedtime reading for me. I’m not a good sleeper at the best of times!

Fast-paced if it’s Crime/Thriller/Adventure. Which is why I love Jack Reacher.

Slow-paced and atmospheric with excellent character development if it’s a mystery like Agatha Christie’s stories.

They have to grip me right from the start or I lose interest fast.

As long as they do not bring in too many characters, that one does not know who they are talking about.

I like both! Depends on my mood to be honest. I read faster if it’s a fast book but then have to ‘rest’ with a slow book. I can it the literary cha cha 😉
