I do. I get them from the library. It makes my life a lot easier, because I can’t read that much with chronic migraines! I always try to keep track with the boik
I’m listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire right now. I love audiobooks and how they allow me to ‘read’ and do other things, such as housework or knitting or crochet, at the same time.
Yes , all the time . Love it! I am driving my three children around houston so much that it helps me not get bored. Long commutes are great with a good audiobook. Also love listening when I lay in bed at night.
I could totally see myself listening to an audiobook during a long commute. I’ve thought about it but never really tried it. Maybe when we head up to Boston this summer.
LibriVox does have volunteers doing the different voices for each character . Sometimes it fits the character , sometimes not. I like this app because I can listen and know the books without having to purchase them. There are a lot of classics that I would like to read about but don’t want to buy the books. Some of the voices are amazing and makes the books so much more interesting to listen to.
While driving you don’t loose parts of the story? I’m afraid of not being concentrated enough while listening (in my case I will listen to audio books while cooking!)
Yes! I do loose part of the story line. On long road trips by myself I quite enjoy them. I find that I cannot always listen to the audio book as I have other family travelling with me ? when we travel to work. But it is the times (most) when I have to wait for kids to finish sport, tutoring… that I do listen and that is my time….!
I put my book on my phone put my phone in my bra and carry on with my entire day. Cooking cleaning laundry and caring for 3 small children. I rarely ever lose my place!
It’s not for lack of trying either I travel home a lot and it was a 14 hr drive till we moved closer but every time I’d just get lost on where they were.
I’m currently reading The Great Gatsby & I’ll admit I was having a little trouble finding… its voice– if that makes any sense. So I found an audiobook on YouTube & boy ol’ boy did it help! Now I read it in that man’s voice it’s just easier to comprehend. ?
I have listened to Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe , the one narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda. And i loved it. I have also listened A series of unfortunate events, the first 6 books. The narrator changes in some of the books and that disturbed me a lot but it was good. And while doing homework or cleaning i listen to Harry potter audio books which are so amazing tbh .
Yes, I check them out from library and listen to them daily while I work. I usually get through about 10 (give or take) a month. (On top of the 4 – 5 I read physically a month)
My husband use to listen to them all the time. He had ADHD and had difficulty reading books so audio was a good route for him. Personally that make me sleepy ?
Yes! Audible! I love listening to favourite stories when in bed .. helps me to wind down and relax … personally don’t like them for stories I haven’t read first though
I love that I can listen to German , Russian , French authors and not have trouble with the definition and pronunciation of words. I am hooked on LibriVox for philosophy and religion books.
I’ve tried. I’m just not an auditory-learner really. I have trouble concentrating on listening for that long. And then one of my best friends has the opposite problem. She can’t concentrate on reading pages, but she can concentrate on audiobooks just fine.
Yes, absolutely love them and old radio plays. There are some seriously fab audio books out there. Can’t fault the Harry Potter ones read by Stephen Fry 🙂
No, I know a lot of people love them but for me the whole act of reading, sitting in a comfy chair, relaxing, having it nice and quiet, maybe a good cup of coffee, it’s all part of the experience.
I do! Have been for 9 years already .. in the days that everybody said it was lame and not really reading.
No
No i tried but got distracted
No, I love to read, to see the words, taste the cadence, create the characters’s voices.
I do. I eyes are not same as they used to be. Plus, I get migraines if I read too much. Audio saved my sanity. It does take some getting used to.
On my commute too and home from work, makes all the difference, look forward to the travel rather than dreading it, I get them from the library
NO!!!!!!
Alright, calm down. “Multiple exclamation marks,” he went on, shaking his head, “are a sure sign of a diseased mind.”
I do.
Good way to do chores or drive without giving up time with my books. =)

I go through stages. Trying to get back into it.

I was hesitant at first, so last year I decided to order a couple from the library. The best thing I did! Listen to the audio as I drive to work ….

I wish I could but if I’m not physically reading the story I have a hard time following it. I’ve tried and just know for me visually is better
I know what you mean. In some instances, I would HAVE to be following along.
It’s not for lack of trying either I travel home a lot and it was a 14 hr drive till we moved closer but every time I’d just get lost on where they were.

I gave my voice in a Bangla audio book for vision disabled people. it is now work in progress.
Will do more inshaAllah.☺
I do, great when I’m doing the housework and walking the dog. I’m currently listening to The Last Kingdom.
I do on my drive too and from work, I borrow them from the library and makes the drive alot easier.
I like them in the car.
Never tried it but I may. I have epilepsy, so obviously no reading during the recovery process. Im.willing to give it a chance

I listen while driving. That’s really the only time
I listen while I clean. Scrubbed the bathroom to American psycho
I’m thinking about audio books for a while, I’m just frightened I won’t be concentrated enough while listening.

Walden was a great audiobook to listen to while in bed.
When travelling a life saver.
Absolutely! While driving, walking, and while falling asleep! I have an Audible membership, and belong to our statewide audiobook library!
Ooooh would you recommend Audible? I was thinking of signing up. ?
Definitely. But I like to listen to books over and over, so it is worth the money to own them.
Thanks for the advice. ?
Yeah
I listen during any time I am doing something that doesn’t require a lot of thinking: eating, lying in bed, driving, washing dishes, etc.
It’s great !
I love that I can listen to German , Russian , French authors and not have trouble with the definition and pronunciation of words. I am hooked on LibriVox for philosophy and religion books.
Yes HP Lovecraft! Really good way to drive or even just resting your eyes lying on your bed.
I’ve tried. I’m just not an auditory-learner really. I have trouble concentrating on listening for that long. And then one of my best friends has the opposite problem. She can’t concentrate on reading pages, but she can concentrate on audiobooks just fine.
Yes, audible. I pay monthly, wouldn’t be without it now.
Yes, I’m addicted to audio books. I love listening to them on my commute especially.
Love them in the car
I do. When I’m driving, cleaning, gardening, or getting ready for the day.
I’m thinking of trying the Harry Potter audio books from Stephen Fry x
We always do on long road trips!
I just listened to one while painting my library and decoupaging my desk.
Oh drives to one of my favorite book stories, love it.
Never
I do. But only for work. So anything related to behavior, the brain, mental illness. All books for pleasure I read.
I stopped for a long time, but have recently started again.
tried once. took me almost a month to finish. I always fell asleep.
Yes! I love both. I’ll go through an audiobook phase then a regular book phase, then audio again etc
Yes. My favorite is at bedtime with the lights out and my husband and I cuddling and falling asleep listening.
I love audio books ❤❤❤

Not usually, they read too fast and I can’t ponder. Or I do ponder and miss a bit.
That would be me?I like to think about the words and I’m a bit dosy when I read?
Always in the car and when cleaning or doing a project

Whenever I have to cook or do something where I can’t physically hold a book, an audiobook is very handy.
No. I’m old school.
Nope but I want to try them
I do.
I do
I tried.. but i fell asleep faster that way.. ?
i do
i never have, but i had a friend who did as she read the actual book because she had a hard time reading
I fall asleep while listening

I just can’t focus. I’ve tried so many times as I get travel sick when actually reading, but my mind just wanders! The
I tried once…but the reader was so bad and I like the reading part to much.
That’s all I do ??♀️

They are wonderful if you enjoy being read to! They are great companions when you take your daily walk, or on your daily commute.
