Very, very rarely.
I’ve got a bad habit of getting bored with rereads because I’ve been through it before.
But I am reading the Outlander books 1-8 again because 9 is coming out this year and I know there’s loads I’ve forgotten.
I tried rereading HP last year but by book 5 I was just done.
But I have read The Princess Bride, The Little Prince, Good Omens, Hitchhikers Guide, and East multiple times.

@Darlin thank you, but I have yet to read an electronic book, I’m afraid I’m quite old school ?

1
Pamela

I even love that old book vinegary smell

2
Darlin

@Pamela have you ever been to the theft stores in your town or near? You’ll be surprised what books you can find there! I’ve gotten a lot of new books for less than 25 cents each!!!

3
MaryQuestion author

@Darlin There used to be a Penguin Warehouse Book Sale in Broome County.

1
Karolina

I do because I love some stories too much to not revisit them.

I only buy books if I plan on rereading them. It’s one of my two conditions

1

MaryQuestion author

A great plan

0
Pamela

@Kurio not sure if I could plan on re-reading a book I’ve not yet read

1
Karolina

@Kurio I only keep books if I can envission myself returning to them for any reason. Not exactly rereading each one from begining to the end. There is not enough time left for that if I consider myself mortal.

2
Pamela

@Karolina fair enough, but I’ve read many books that I don’t care to repeat; nonetheless, I feel I benefited from reading them

1
Kurio

Limited space generally plays a part. But I have to enjoy a book enough to reread it. I always sample them from the library before buying, so I know if I’ll like them or not

2
Laurie

I do it all the time. Especially if a new book in a series is coming out and it’s been awhile between books.

I’ve have with favorite books in the past. Recently, I’m back in college and spend most of my time reading course related materials. However, I was just thinking 2019 might be a good year to save money by rereading and this will have the added benefit of helping me determine what to get rid of and sort out the keepers.

There is nothing wrong with doing rereads. I know that the ONE drawback about the library is the due date. There are also Friends of the Library Sales at libraries where people can get books at a cheap prices.

I’ve been doing rereads via audio book. I drive a truck all day so it’s nice to relive the story while I’m working with no effort and reading new books in the evening.

I re~read the books I’ve kept??

2

Mary

I do, for a couple of reasons. I love rereading because I may find things I missed in the first reading also some stories I just love to read. However, I put a lot of money into my collection (I have full hardcover collections of Cassandra Clare, JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Patricia Briggs, and many others) it would be wasteful to only read them once and just stare at them forever.

The only thing I reread is the Harry Potter series. I reread years 1-3 last year and later this month I’m going to go back to year 4, unless I’m bored at work this week, then I’ll start it again on my phone.
