Maze Runner! I guess I kind of liked the idea of having a male protagonist in a dystopian era. Plus with Maze Runner you won’t stumble upon dramatic romances every other chapter ?

Haven’t read Maze Runner so have to do with Divergent. Loved the books but didn’t like what they did for the movies.

I haven’t finished the Maze Runner series, but there’s no way it could be worse than Divergent. I want those hours of my life back.

Why does their have to be one or the other? Personally I enjoyed reading Divergent more, but that didn’t mean that Maze Runner wasn’t any good.

Just want to know which one to read before the other…. I will more than likely end up reading both but I have so many other books I want to read as well. Just want a new “series” to start

Melissa

Ahhh well then read the one that appeals to you more. Nobody can say which one you will like better, only you will know which one you like better when you’re done reading 🙂

Hence why I’m asking WHY people like that series more…. I’ve read descriptions of both and both sound interesting to me. Just trying to get more input so I can make my decision

Melissa

It’s hard to say why without giving spoilers.

Both of their first books are really great. I think they both sorta fall from there. But if I have to choose I think I choose Maze Runner

The maze runner. It was much better then divergent. More action better plot. It wasn’t all about love. It was different from another book I have read.

Maze Runner. I’ve never read Divergent, but my mom has. It sounds like the MR characters are deeper than Divergent characters.

Maze Runner, because Divergent is cheesy lol don’t get me wrong. I loved Divergent and it’s an interesting story. But if you’ve read Hunger Games, The Giver, or Red Queen, you’ve basically read Divergent. It’s kind of the same old same old what you would think in a dystopian YA book. But Maze Runner is so much more. It’s interesting, it’s new, and a different take on the end of the world. It’s great.

I’d choose divergent! Because it’s amazing?

I only read the first Divergent book. That was enough.

Meh and no
Divergent was good but I didn’t like the ending very much
Maze runner was just too boring for me. The characters fell flat and were emotionless

2

Divergent, the plot of maze runner was just really….. meh and ridiculous to me. Or maybe it was the writing style but I definitely liked Divergent more.

Maze Runner, mainly because I got tired of Triss from Divergent. Maze Runner was more fast paced for me.

The Divergent movies… ?

Maze Runner. I’ve only read the first books for each series, but Maze Runner was very well-written compared to Divergent.

I’ve only read the first book in each series, but I liked Divergent more. But my sister read all of the maze runner books and all the divergent books and loved them both although I think she preferred the maze runner series.

Oh, I hated both with passion. I abandoned Divergent series 50 pages (in the last book) before the ending I got so frustrated. The Maze Runner I forced the 100 pages limit, chucked the book, read the summary online and even those 3 minutes felt like time wasted.

Maze runner. Both had really strong first books but divergent for some reason felt lacking in the second book; maze runner managed to hold on to the level of the first book. (Although personally I liked the maze runner movies more than the books)

mAZE RUNNER.the only reason why i picked up divergent was bc ppl told me it was great and it wasn’t. i couldn’t get through the second book. maze runner on the other hand was okay i liked it but i still prefer the movies

Maze Runner, because it’s not cheesy unlike Divergent. Plus, Divergent is like Hunger Games but without the games!

Argel

But which is better for you, Divergent or Hunger Games?

0
Maria

Hunger Games

0
Haley

Divergent. The Maze Runner was extremely slow, and I wasn’t a fan of the slang he used

0
Reply
Melissa

Yes I don’t really like the slang in Maze Runner either. It felt like the author was trying too hard to give them their own language. Didn’t seem natural at all.

0
Wendy

Maze runner has more action, no so much a love triagle, and a better plot, I only read the first in divergent I could not get past page 10 on insurgent.

Rebecca

Maze runner!!! Divergent wasn’t very good. The first was ok but the rest were awful

0
Reply
Ariane

Maze runner because the three of them were good. For divergent, the first one was amazing, but the other two were boring and deceiving…

1
Reply
Valeria

Maze Runner, much more original and with better characters and plot development than Divergent

0
Reply
Bradley

I haven’t finished reading the Maze Runner series but I’d pick that over Divergent. (a) because I think Divergent really stretched its storyline to fill up another book so the author could make money and (b) I really hated how the books ended

They both have that thing in common where the first book is amazing and the rest of the trilogy is just meh but the maze runner is waaaay better in my opinion. I couldn’t care for the characters in divergent and didn’t feel attached to them but what the maze runner had going on for me other than the plot were how much I cared about the characters

1

Argel

Maze Runner, the whole series is pretty much related to each other, not much changes from the first book to the last, except for that fact that ……..

Divergent coz its a girls journey of self-discovery and bringing down the government/societal belief structure. Although Maze runner is good too… but i just found myself asking “but why?!” too often… it just seemed more hopeless where as Divergent seemed more hopeful. If that makes any sense.

Divergent. I loved those books a lot and I tend to be pretty picky with what books I like and love. It’s also definitely a series I would read again, and I only have two other books in the category of would read again

I love both trilogies but I’d say Divergent on this one. A lot of things happened in both stories but Maze Runner kind of ended in a ‘meh’ and wtf way. It’s an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love how Divergent ended. It’s not something you read everyday. 😉

Melissa

Oh I know so many people were upset about the ending (Divergent) but I think it worked for it. Trying not to say more than that without giving spoilers.

Yes! It’s heartbreaking but wonderful at the same time.

1
Melissa

Did you read Four? I just read that one over the summer.

1

I read it years ago. I can’t remember all the details anymore. ? I loved it tho. Backstories are always awesome. <3

1
Melissa

Yes, I liked it a lot too. I didn’t know when it first came out, I didn’t realize and then I saw it on the shelf at the library and I was like “wut. There’s more?!” so then I had to read it
