I have not yet seen a good Time Machine adaptation. For that matter, I didn’t care for Tom Cruise’s War of the Worlds either. I think the problem is I am not an HG Wells fan..
There are some movie adaptations that I just won’t see because I know ahead of time how the original story that I loved has been screwed with. The Good German is one of those.
biggest thing was the nanny’s child who was sent away because she was biracial, is supposed to return and shock the white ladies with her behaviour as she looks black and walks into the house, talks etc as if she’s equal. (Obviously she is but I meAn in this time and place it is shocking). Instead the actress looks white. It’s not shocking. It makes no sense.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I normally like Tim Burton and him using Dahl as source material should have been epic. But… Willy Wonka is suddenly Michael Jackson
The host was awful!
But the book was Awesome!
Amazing book!
Most of them.
True lol
My Sister’s Keeper was one of the worse I’ve seen
They ruined it by changing the ending?
The only film adaptation I really enjoyed was the green mile, one of my favourites! Loved the book and the film ?
I agree! I think the movie was just as good if not bettter. Shawshank Redemption as well
Oh I loved Shaw shank redemption but I’ve not read the book!! How did that happen??!! That’s something I’m gonna have to remedy! ?
was a good read
Loved both! I read the Green Mile as it came out in the 6 series of books. Almost killed me waiting.
The Time Machine remake
This!
Ugh! I only made the first 30 minutes!

I love H G Wells. I think the adaptations were at fault. ?
I didn’t like The Color Purple as much as I liked the novel
I’ve still never watched it
Have watched the movie. Good but slightly confusing. Have not read the book (yet).
The Color Purple I really liked.
Love both…one of my favorite books and movies!
Most all of them ?

I always like the book better
The Help. Some great actors but some key points changed.
I haven’t dared watch this as I liked the book a lot. Don’t want it ruined by the movie!
That’s a shame. What did they change?
@Allison I liked the movie a lot but I see your point

Ah yes. I’d forgotten that. Thanks ?
Pet Sematary
Cold Mountain…The Lovely Bones
I haven’t seen The Lovely Bones film, the book pissed me off enough
@Deborah yes & yes!
Inherent Vice
Chocolat
I Am Legend with Will Smith. An abomination!
Any of the Jack Reacher films, Tom Cruise as a 6’5″ Reacher??…seriously poor casting..
Worst film adaptation fail ever: The neverending story ???
The bfg. Disgraceful
The Three Musketeers 2011. I. Hated. That. Movie. As a matter of fact, hatred isn’t even a strong enough word to describe how I feel about this movie.
Anything Dean Koontz… aside from Odd Tomas… every other film was a real let down…
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I normally like Tim Burton and him using Dahl as source material should have been epic. But… Willy Wonka is suddenly Michael Jackson
Couldn’t agree more. I just couldn’t accept Johnny Depp as Wonka
