Honestly, Jenell–I can’t imagine EVER going to Kindle or a tablet. I know many trees sacrificed their lives for my books, and I’m grateful–but some love affairs never die. Paper it is, and paper it will be.

Same here Jamie Jonas. Just concerned that someday people will find my withered body under a stack(s) of collapsed books. (Need more bookcases!!!)

Good solid ones. Capacity and strength measured by the ton.??

Jan

That’s about it!!! And flat tops with graduated height access so the cats will sleep up there and not bother me when I’m reading. (Like that works – HAH!)

I don’t have a problem using both. The real problem is having continued growth in my book collection, and over 700 ebooks as well….increasing my TBR exponentially.

Rikki

Nope. Not at all. Reading from a tablet is especially easier at night when I’m trying to sleep. I can just have my iPad on the dark reading mode and lock out all that extra light. Books are cheaper on kindle/iBooks etc too. But when I want to read outside or in the car etc then I definitely like a book. I have zero issues going from one to the other.

I have to say, *eearly* on I had trouble getting used to it, but I got the app for my phone, and switched between that and the kindle, and I found it was quite enjoyable. (Still only about 1/3 of my total reading is electronic, can’t give up the paper)

Yeah. That’s my favourite things about ebooks. I can get a break from my reading glasses when I use them. Long times with them makes my eyes strain and hurt so the break is nice.

Absolutely considering I can’t not turn a page. I love the feel of every turn of a page and the smell thay they have. To go from that to touching a screen…. I do have some books on kindle but always go back to my paper

It probably took me a couple of weeks. I had owned a Kindle for a while and picked it up for a couple of books but then got back into the habit of picking up a physical copy. When I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition, which affects my wrists, however, the only choices left to me, during a flare up, were no books or eBooks. I bit the bullet and picked up my Kindle. Again. This time, I’ve never looked back. Even on good days, when I could hold and read a paper book, I still prefer to use my Kindle.

(Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a paper book lover and can’t resist a pretty cover! It just means that now I have shelves upon shelves of brand new books which are only used for blogging/display purposes ?)

I use my Kindle when on holiday. Great way to take a number of books in limited space. Otherwise I prefer the “old-fashioned” kind of books!! Lol!!

When I first tried reading on my computer and a tablet it was really difficult and I hated it. But when I got the kindle it is so much better. Now I can travel without packing four books (especially nice cus I prefer hardbacks) or disturbing the passenger trying to sleep next to me by turning on my light.

No no problem. I didn’t have really any choice but I found I needed a good cover on my kindle so that I could hold it like a book. Happy reading.

I use both pretty interchangeably. I buy whichever version of the book is cheaper. I prefer physical books, but when the book is $1.99 on kindle and $10 for the actual book, I’ll totally get the two dollar one.

I can’t read kindle books. I find it difficult to read off of a screen for very long, especially since my fingers go numb and start to hurt. ??? I can only listen to audiobooks. Only books I can read are real ones.

No – I love being able to read at night with the back light with my tablet and I love the convenience of being able to bring my tablet & kindle on long journeys or even short journeys lol and not having to carry a heavy book with me. I also love reading a paper book though when I’m at home.

I got a cover to help me transfer from having a real book to and E reader.
Now I can’t go back.
I have all my books with me all the time I never have to worry about losing them or destroying them they’re all in my library.
Best part is I can carry a small purse now:-)

It’s an adjustment–the feel of the book, the book jacket, and reading the back cover. I miss that but out of practicality–having a Kindle let’s you carry any size book and as many books anytime. I still move easily back and forth so it’s nice to have both options. ?

Yes,but I love having so many books to read in one compact space, choosing my font size, and how effortlessly I can look up a definition of the odd word.

I was uncomfortable/dissatisfied/grumpy about the change. But the Kindle grew on my since I can read in the dark, get instant definitions to words and can carry it easily in my purse. Now when I start a new book, I usually borrow the e book as well for the convenience.

The biggest issue I have is pushing on a word in my physical copy and waiting for a dictionary to pop up. Other than that I have no problem transitioning.
