Well, I do not really have things I do not like in books except extremely sad stories 🙂

My vote is read it! If you hate it (you won’t) you can always shelve it. It’s one of my longtime favorites.

Have you read and liked other Steinbeck novels? I have to say, not me. Of course, he’s an excellent writer, but I don’t like them. I know, I’m the lone voice in the wilderness.

Read it for the first time earlier this year. Wasn’t sure at first, but loved it. It is a classic good vs. evil. Not subtle. Listened on audiobook. Great narrator. Perfect book for a good storyteller.

I am not a fan of Steinbeck generally, but East of Eden is one I definitely recommend. (Of Mice and Men is the other one)
