I have one or at least had one that was being given away for free, never read it though, have too many other books that I would much rather read.

I really loved the one about her Son, I can’t read her other stuff, I don’t feel they are well written, but that is solely my opinion.

I read her early books but I have not read one in at least 15-20 years.

Even now she is the best selling?

0
Reply
Haylene

Not this year but overall in the whole world she’s the highest paid living author

0
Denise

@Haylene , wow, hard to believe. I wasn’t sure she was even still alive.

0
Haylene

@Denise Yeah, Agatha Christie is the highest paid author in the world. Dead that is. Even when an author dies, their books still sell

1
Denise

@Haylene , yes, of course. I just am surprised that she is still that popular. Not at all surprised about Agatha Christie.

1
Haylene

@Denise some articles rank by how much was sold that year. By how such ebooks, copies on Amazon, What series sold the most, etc…

0
Haylene

Lots of people still buy Danielle Steel books. I think she publishes a book every month? I’m not sure but I saw many of her books at a bookstore and they’ve advertised her books on our local TV stations. So there has to be a lot of people who still buy her books but because many hate her books they think people don’t buy them. And those boughts are also calculated from the beginning of her career until now

0
Haylene

Apparently she writes 22 hours a day

Becky

once and absolutely hated it x

Is that true? What about James Patterson and Stephen King?

0

Haylene

They’re way down on the list!

0
Haylene

There are authors who make far more than Stephen King. Popularity doesn’t mean more books sold

1
Vickie

@Haylene Granted, but I think I’ve read that Patterson’s #1 in sales. If she’s #1, who’s #2? I’d love to see the list.

0
Haylene

@Vickie Did they mention a year? Maybe they mentioned he was bestselling that year? Agatha Christie is the bestselling author in the world. The poster mentioned that Danielle Steele is bestselling living author. Do you remember what the website said? Did they mention highest paid in 2018?

0
Vickie

@Haylene Christie makes sense, and, no, I don’t remember, but I do remember thinking that I was not surprised, especially considering that he now writes for all age groups. It did/does seem current. I must ask Google. Thanks!

0
Haylene

@Vickie Why doesn’t Danielle Steel make sense to you? You do know that she probably has a book out every month, right? Also, she dedicates 22 hours of writing a day. Whether her books are good or not, I have to respect an author who writes their own books. Patterson hasn’t penned any of his latest books. I think he’s done a decade or so ago. He might have never written a book actually. Not sure but he uses ghostwriters. I like Danielle Steel because she puts the work in. I might not personally like her books, but I won’t rob her of credit

0
Danielle

How does she function on less than two hours of sleep a day?

To be fair the only reason Shakespeare is first is because of the schools buying it. Agatha Christie is the real top seller

I am a fan & have a big collection. Sadly I think a lot of people see her as a fluffy romance author so don’t read her books and it is so not true!. Many of her stories have a good historical fiction story in them ( Echoes, Silent Honor, Message from Nam etc all about the World War, Pearl Harbour & Vietnam War . If people were given her books & not told the author until after they had read it I am sure they would be very surprised.x

I do agree with you, it’s not Just romance they have nice background stories and I am especially into the historical ones she writes as I love history, the movies also have great quality and often big name TV actors and actresses in them. ?

I read a couple in my teens, many years ago now, and although they were readable and had quite good plots, they were a bit ‘sugary’ for me. OK, but that’s as far as I would go.

Yes, I’ve read several of her books. They’re not all great but some are well worth the read. Echos was my favorite book of hers. I couldn’t put it down. Some of her books are short and repetitive but I’d say she’s a good writer.

I’ve read several of her books. She’s a romance writer but her books don’t focus on just romance. It’s about the lives of people and the problems they face depending on the story.
