I find Henry Fieldings style of writing a bit hard going at times, but it’s a cracking story of a interesting character. But not one of my favorite books. I’m a Dickens girl..

I actually just started it so I don’t have an opinion yet.
I tried it a few years back, but decided the writing was just too “olde” for me. Though, I might try it again – but I can’t say when, just now.
Good book. Well worth reading.
I loved this book.Parts are 3 stars, parts are 4 stars. This book was written in 1754 and is said to be one of the first novels ever written. I am not sure any other author has a writing style quite like Henry Fielding. This author really engaged the reader and he referred to us all the time, I love that feature seen often in classics. Long, very long sentences that had to be re-read in some cases to get the proper meaning. Some surprises at the end that is for sure. Some have referred this to be a comical book, that I did not see. Maybe more quirky characters than anything. If you love classics, this may be the book to try, I found I enjoyed his style more than the actual story which certainly dragged on through the almost 900 pages.
I love Fielding’s sense of humor and didn’t find the writing at all difficult, though obviously that varies. Some editions spoil many of his jokes because they don’t come off to the majority of modern readers, which is a reason I generally prefer to read older editions where possible.
It’s a hoot!! 😀 Love it.
