Yes, it definitely does. I struggled in the beginning for a bit, too, but then Eleanor grows on you big time!

It’s one of the books my entire book club liked.
My book club mostly liked it. I loved it, but at a third way in, I say give up on it. ?
I stopped reading it around that point as well but do plan to try it again.

I think it’s a book you either love right away or you don’t…
I started skipping around at that point and nope doesn’t change. I think you either like her or don’t
I loved it. Not all books appeal to everyone though.
I thought it was overrated, but I know others enjoyed it. If you’re not into it, you can put it aside and come back to it after reading something else to see if your opinion changes.

Eleanor is far from the glamorous heroin of many books: she’s quirky and weird and socially awkward, but I absolutely loved the book! To me it was well worth the read, but everyone has their own preferences and reading material. I’ve read other books that people raved about that I just couldn’t get into
Take your own advice. If you’re 1/3 of the way in and it’s not “your cup of tea”, find another book. There are so many on your list!!

It’s different, but stick with it if you can. I ended up living this book.
I got bored, flipped thru some of the pages and then gave up. For me there are so many better and more interesting books out there.
I felt the same way but kept on going and glad I did. It made for a very good book club discussion
I thought it was just okay. I had to read it for two book clubs. I seem to be in the minority, though. It reminded me of A Man Called Ove, which I couldn’t finish, but everyone else seemed to love.

If a book isn’t doing it for you, then it either is not the right book for you or it’s not the right time for this book for you. Set it aside and find another one that really lights your fire

I felt the same. I usually have a 50 page rule. If I dont like it I stop reading after 50 pages. It had enough interest to keep me going and it did get better.
One of my favorite books of all time but, as we know, not everyone likes every book. It did build from about halfway on.

I think it depends on what you’re looking for! I found her character interesting and could see flickers of resemblance to my own life and people close to me. So I was fascinated.
