For non cerebral fare, I like Steve Berry. As usual, his first books are infinitely better than his latest ones.
Brilliant by Marne Davis Kellogg is a great light read about a jewel thief, its a series. Chick lit at its best
Bank Shot by Dennis Westlake is a great heist story, and side-splitingly funny! His whole Dortmunder series about a crew of hapless crooks is wonderful.
