Haven’t bought much! By a beautiful coincidence, whenever i plan to buy em, i receive them from somewhere as gifts, my surrondings know i love books, the only happy thing in my life XD. Whoever tries to approach me they use a book
After doing to much math I’ve come to the following conclusion: We have spent enough to collectively buy: Sean Puffy Combs and the palace of Versailles, twenty six giraffes and a marmoset. We would still have enough left over to buy a coffee or two.
Does that one do audiobooks too? I’m using Liby right now and love it but wouldn’t mind more of a selection. Hoopla restarted my book 5 times so I’m done with that one
If I just average out to $10/book (library freebies up to $30 hardbacks) then I’ve spent close to $2500+ just on the books currently in my home. I can’t even imagine what I’ve spent over the course of my life or the group collectively
If you have an old book store in the close by and library you can kind of pace your spending. Check the book out from the library first before buying them, that way you will only spend money on books you want to keep.
Randy Smith I’ve run out of shelf space too plus filled my kindle so had to buy a SD card to expand the memory so I can get more books. I’m kinda thinking I may have a small book buying problem oops ? I also have a library card and I’ve pinched my husbands library card so I can get extra books.
That is a pandora’s box my book friend. Stay away from it. Just on my kindle alone I have over 4000 titles. Let’s not add audiobooks across multiple platforms and physical books too. And yet, I boldly exclaim “I have no regrets!!!
Oh I don’t want to be reminded of how much I have personally spent! Yeah collectively is a better term.Makes me feel like I did my part. That I went above and beyond the call of duty.Yes!Collectively is a guilt free term.Thank you.
Oh my! I don’t think I want to know! LOL It truly is an addiction! I have a stack that I haven’t even started and yet I keep ordering! What can I say?? 🙂
Very little. I have a Kindle paperwhite so I download most of my books from the library. I’ve also won close to 200 books from Goodreads. Everyone once in awhile I will buy a Kindle book for .99 or 1.99
Assuming an average of 500 a year per person 17,950,000$ a year for everyone here sounds reasonable. I used 500 a year as a base as I assume there are those that spend way more than me and those that spend a considerable amount less and it probably meats in the middle.
@Jeff, I have the same problem with those BookBub deals. Not to mention my multitude of overflowing bookcases. I blame Amazon’s “best books of the month” for that.
Oh, let’s not think about that.
I don’t even think we want to think about that…
13,843
way to much
Do not even start to add it up!!! That way madness lies… ?
Enough to pay off the US debt?
I don’t spend a lot because I try to use ebay.
You really shouldn’t ask…me
I love them ..i don’t give a damn about the money…lol(though sometime i do look back at the cash)
Ssh, best not bring that up. But way less than my husband’s guitars and music equipment.
Haven’t bought much! By a beautiful coincidence, whenever i plan to buy em, i receive them from somewhere as gifts, my surrondings know i love books, the only happy thing in my life XD. Whoever tries to approach me they use a book
I’ve only spent $35 since May
Before amazon ..a ton …. after amazon ..less
A lot
Thousands and thousands
From 2015
? alot
My worry is if my wife sells my books off after I die for the price I told her I bought them for…
After doing to much math I’ve come to the following conclusion:
We have spent enough to collectively buy:
Sean Puffy Combs and the palace of Versailles, twenty six giraffes and a marmoset. We would still have enough left over to buy a coffee or two.
Waooo
Enough to feed a small country.
Lots of books borrowed from the public library. Overdrive is an app that works with Kindle for borrowing from the library. I love my local library.
Does that one do audiobooks too? I’m using Liby right now and love it but wouldn’t mind more of a selection. Hoopla restarted my book 5 times so I’m done with that one
Mine all came from yard sales, estate sales, or thrift shops… I have a lot of books but happy they were either 50 cents or $1!
I don’t even want to think that ?
Doesn’t matter to me. All better than what I used to spend on booze, drugs, and cigarettes !
I’m sure the amount makes our countries deficit look like lunch money
Alor
Lots opps
Don’t answer this y’all. Don’t do this to yourselves! ?
I only buy from my local charity shop which is 50p a book and if you buy two you get one free!
Way too much
That’s depressing. I don’t want to face it. ??
More than my husband should know????
Is this once a month or everyday?
All of it.
Way more than we can count
If I just average out to $10/book (library freebies up to $30 hardbacks) then I’ve spent close to $2500+ just on the books currently in my home. I can’t even imagine what I’ve spent over the course of my life or the group collectively
Oh I dread to think it would be in the thousands.
More than I can afford ??
A
Lot
If you have an old book store in the close by and library you can kind of pace your spending. Check the book out from the library first before buying them, that way you will only spend money on books you want to keep.
Somewhere close to the national debt…
Way too much. But that doesn’t stop me buying new books lol
I have run out of bookcases so I’m in a holding pattern right now
Randy Smith I’ve run out of shelf space too plus filled my kindle so had to buy a SD card to expand the memory so I can get more books. I’m kinda thinking I may have a small book buying problem oops ?
I also have a library card and I’ve pinched my husbands library card so I can get extra books.
Of course you don’t ,its just a lack of space…hmmm time to get rid of that old chair and few other things.. that all LOL
In the words of Gandalf, “keep it secret, keep it safe.” That info goes with me to the grave.
GDP of a developing country?
I don’t want to go there ???
A small fortune ?
And that’s being a little modest ???
That is a pandora’s box my book friend. Stay away from it. Just on my kindle alone I have over 4000 titles. Let’s not add audiobooks across multiple platforms and physical books too. And yet, I boldly exclaim “I have no regrets!!!
Including college textbooks?
I could have probably paid my tuition with the amount of money I’ve spent on books over the years.
A lot ?
There’s over 1,200 print books in my living room and I have nook, kobo, etc… But my kindle books alone is about to break 9,000…
I don’t wanna know!!
I couldn’t resist. ?
Honestly? Not as much as one would think. A big chunk of my 6075 books are either gifts, inherited, garage sale, book clearance sale or library sale.
I know I probably spend $1k-2k on books every year.
Me too so glade I’m not alone
1000
A lot more than my boyfriend thinks but since its my money I don’t care just have to build a bigger book shelf
Woah!! I would say probably close to $1 billion! (I forget how many people are in this group)
Dont wanna know ?
Too much lol
Don’t wanna know ?
Way to much!!!
I was going to say too much but let’s be real, most of us still don’t have enough do we ?
Tons
Alot
I have the right to remain silent?
Scary thought. I have probably spent more than $100,000
More than I have spent on my handbags and I have a collection ?
Way to much
No clue at all Don’t keep track
Tons
I better not know ? but way too much… can’t help it tho ?
25 billion
True!
ALOT
Oh I don’t want to be reminded of how much I have personally spent! Yeah collectively is a better term.Makes me feel like I did my part. That I went above and beyond the call of duty.Yes!Collectively is a guilt free term.Thank you.
Enough to make a sizable contribution to the national debt…??????????
About 1,000 not counting books that were gifts and given to me.
Thousands and thousands
No less than 8,000
Thousands of thousands
Too damn much, even if half are thrift store finds ..
Oh my! I don’t think I want to know! LOL It truly is an addiction! I have a stack that I haven’t even started and yet I keep ordering! What can I say?? 🙂
Not enough
Very little. I have a Kindle paperwhite so I download most of my books from the library. I’ve also won close to 200 books from Goodreads. Everyone once in awhile I will buy a Kindle book for .99 or 1.99
I go to half Price books alot. I live near rich stay at home moms who bookclub so I just buy their used books
Lots and lots and lots more!?
Not nearly enough. But LOTS
I don’t spend a lot as i get a lot free through my volunteer job at local thrift store 😉
More than enough to put a good deposit on a house.
Maybe $6/day. Mostly thanks to BookBub, BookGorilla, Robin Reads, ManyBooks, OHFB, The Fussy Librarian, Freebooksy, ReadCheaply, GoodReads…
I don’t want to talk about it…. my friends had an intervention
Honestly i really don’t want to know ?
I’m over here reading all of the responses laughing my butt off!! ? Y’all are crazy!
I’d prefer not to think about it. lol
That is a scary question.
I just got back from the library book sale where I spent $12 on 20 books. I wish I could say all the rest of mine averaged 60 cents each.
I spent like $150 on books a paycheck, sometimes more, so I don’t even want to know ? not even including audiobooks, oh lord!
@Danika I own 720 books that are in my TBR. I just figured this out today. Now I feel overwhelmed.
Lots
A really nice house….
Lots
Millions !!! Lol
80Billion
This year alone, I’ve probably spent $800.
Oh god I don’t want to know
A fortune!
This year? 200dollars, and counting.
Too much!! Lol!! I have gotten a lot at rummage sales, so not as bad as it could have been.
I don’t even want to think about it.
Thousands
I know i can buy both a house, and my dream car Mini Cooper lol
Enough that I refuse to write or say the amount!?
thousands
More than I care to know
i would vote in the millions, if i could get a tax break for the money ive spent on books, yikes.
I’m at about 400-700 a year myself I think.
Assuming an average of 500 a year per person 17,950,000$ a year for everyone here sounds reasonable. I used 500 a year as a base as I assume there are those that spend way more than me and those that spend a considerable amount less and it probably meats in the middle.
This year or ever this year a lot now trie that over the years alot more
Cory for me that amount would be about right. I never really added it up before.
I don’t even want to think about it.?
Enough to match the GDP of a small island nation?
Ireland, perhaps.
@Jeff, sounds realistic.
I blame it on BookBub’s daily email deals. That Kindle TBR pile is becoming HUGE.
@Jeff, I have the same problem with those BookBub deals. Not to mention my multitude of overflowing bookcases. I blame Amazon’s “best books of the month” for that.
@Jeff I want one of those in my neighborhood. Would not help the tbr problem. Lol.
I think I might have a serious panic attack if I’m ever told how much I’ve spent on books
Darent think about it, probably too much
I wouldn’t use the word “spent” let’s go with the word invested. ?
I think in the last month alone I’m up to $200. New editions and thriftbooks man!!
I could dream of having that kind of extra money to buy books. ?
Enough to feed every person in the US for 15-20 years.
And that was just today! Thanks BookBub! ?
