The best series ever! Cassandra Clare is an amazing writer you will love it! Just a tip: read the infernal devices first (clockwork angel) or read the books in publication date order. The immortal instruments and the infernal devices go hand in hand as it is the same shadow hunter world.
Just get past book 1 and you’ll love it

It’s ok. Entertaining for the most part. The love angst gets a bit annoying, as does some of the of the characters stupid decisions. But overall a pretty good series.
Definite yes. But you also definitely have to read The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices as well ?
Yay and nay… Yay because the ultimate story is good. Nay because there’s too much unnecessary stuff in it and it should have been only 3 books long

Definitely but maybe start with the infernal devices series first. I know it only came out after the mortal instruments but I found reading them first as a cool way to get started and into the series

I liked the series when I was in sixth grade but I haven’t reread them ever since ? id say yes but I’m not sure if I would like them now
I like it, but the main character has a very ‘You’re a girl who might be prettier than me, not to mention the fact that you’re competition for male attention. I hate you!’ attitude that infuriates me. So glad the show changed that…

I’ve read 5 our of 6. I will read the 6th one to finish it off but I’m not overly excited by it. It was great at the beginning but I think it is stretched out too far
I have the first three so I must have enjoyed it. I don’t remember if I stopped waiting for the next book and forgot about it or got bored of it.

NAY. If your going to try, go for the prequel series Infernal Devices or post mortal instruments series Dark Artifices. Written so much better. MI is a hot mess.

Nay there’s much better series out there.. Cassandra Clare turned that series into a soap opera…it got very predictable…I read up til the third almost 7 years ago and I even though I have the rest I just don’t feel like continuing reading yet :/ I’ll prob read it just to complete the series at some point but not in any hurry

definitely read the mortal instruments series! city of bones (and most of ashes) is pretty slow but it’s SO amazing and the prequel series tid is my FAVORITE (read after tho since tmi sets up the world for you)
