Push through! Definitely an enjoyable read, with very colourful descriptions and the plot is almost outside the box. I had a few small issues with the end, but all in all, it was a great read! Currently reading Legendary!
Honestly it gets so much better if you’re able to push through. I really liked this book ?

I honestly cannot fathom why so many people are so down on this book. I just finished it last week and I adored it.
If you are looking for a deep, character building, emotional adventure. This isn’t it.
If you are looking for a fast paced, fun, light read then it’s good.
I think the issue people have with the book is that it could have been MORE.
It had great potential to be deep, exciting, fun, and something of its own entirely.
I think a lot of people wanted that for it.
Instead its just fun.
I personally enjoyed it.

@Heather it’s hard for me to compare it to Twilight. I read that when I was a teenager and my fifteen year old self was in love.

I thought of it as a movie I pull out once in awhile and enjoy every blue moon. ?
I enjoyed it, especially when the clues tied together this way or that, and how they played out. And I liked the dynamic between Scar and the sailor. And I loved Legend.
I was blown away by the level of magic this book managed to transfer on just paper?

I enjoyed both books. There were things I didn’t like about Caraval (I preferred Legendary) but it was still really enjoyable to me.
I hated it… and stopped a few chapters in. There is no point in torturing yourself with a book you don’t like. Move on to something you do!
I normally end at 100 pages of i don’t like it and if people say push through i normally do by this is mixed so I’ll give it another chapter
yes I always give books until page 100 before deciding to stop reading
I give 60 pages. This book had great reviews so I kept going. Wish I hadn’t. About as fun as dog poop.

Fairly meh. I read the sequel too because so many people like it (I thought maybe I was missing something) and it was just bad.
Keep going! Try to make at least to where caraval actually starts. I kind of felt the same with the first few chapters but that part got me hooked!

I pushed through. Wish I hadn’t. A nail through the foot would have been more pleasant, and yes, I’ve had a nail through the foot before.
This is one of the few that I’ve DNF’d. I just couldn’t get in to it.
@Tiffany It was overwrought with description. Purple prose, ugh! Great plot flawed by poor writing.
I read it, and really didn’t like it. The world is never built so if that’s what bothering you about it, like me, maybe don’t bother

Some people love it some hate it, I’m one of the ones who loved it. If you can push through do so, it might be the best story you read. If not don’t try to push yourself through it if you aren’t enjoying it

I feel like it’s hit and miss for people. Personally I LOVED it, and would recommend to keep reading.
My sister and I both hated it, I had to finish it so I could tell her how it ended.
I didn’t like it at all. It was quite possibly the final nail in the YA coffin for me.
I am currently finishing it and quite liked it, I would say read till they arrive to caraval and if you don’t like it then don’t go on

Liked it at the beginning. I think its another case of planning a sequel, which wrecked the rhythm. It’s sooo stretched out at the end.

Push through it! It gets good at the end. Though, it took me about a month to get past the beginning.
Interesting concept, but the writing was way too flowery and overwrought. I’m on my library wait list for Legendary on audio so I can DNF it if it gets bad without investing too much dedicated reading time.
It’s been compared to The Night Circus .. But to me no comparison. Night Circus way .. better!!
