Can you recommend any authors or books that are similar to Erik Larson’s?
Hi everyone! My husband loves Erik Larson’s books, but he’s read almost all of them, and the 2 he hasn’t I am getting him for his birthday this Saturday. Can you recommend any authors or books that are similar to Larson’s? He loves nonfiction, especially historical reads. TIA, everyone! ??
David Halberstam: David McCullough; Doris Kearns Goodwin; David Grann; Michael Smirconish;
Unbroken by Laura Hilldebrand was wonderful.
I haven’t read Larson but I can recommend Grant by Ron Chernow.
Candice Millard; Simon Winchester; Nathaniel Philbrick; David Halberstam.
Colony of Unrequited Dreams. The best of the best nonfiction. Up there with Larsen
The Boys in the Boat is awesome, by Daniel James Brown
It absolutely is.
Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson
Great one!!!!
Unbroken or Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand
One Summer: 1927 in America by Bill Bryson;
River of Doubt by Candice Millard;
The Radium Girls by Kate Moore;
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson
The Tiger by John Vaillant.
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
Great suggestions here… I particularly echo David McCullough … similar enough that I sometimes confuse the two

The Hot Zone by Richard Preston.
Medical non-fiction. Very disturbing…
very good book
Barbara Tuchman and Simon Winchester. Both are outstanding
Our book club loved Incendiary by @Michael. It’s a true crime book which takes place in the the mid 20th century. The story centers on the search for a serial bomber in NYC. It’s also the beginning of criminal profiling. Lot’s of interesting characters, too.
Cripp by John Boyne
Tracy Kidder
Paul French, Kate Summerscale, Michael Sims, Margalit Fox
