A few years ago on the bus back from a country town tour where my amateur orchestra had just performed in a huge cathedral, I was mentioning to a fellow in the group about a story I was writing, set in a monastery and how the sounds from the performance had inspired me further. He recommended that book to me then, I got it out of the library the next week, and loved it.
