Currently reading Swan Song…. So far, so good. Very vivid descriptions, and I could well imagine it being pretty accurate.? There have been a couple of occasions where I had to read back a couple of paragraphs, because I thought I’d missed something, but there are a couple of odd bits.
Wool by Hugh Howey is good. I need to get the rest of the series.
Has anyone here read The World Made by Hand post apocalyptic series? I bought it on impulse from Amazon, as they offered the title book on a daily deal. I’m hoping it’s a good series, worth about $22 for the whole set of four books.
These are all more focused on relationships and the fight for survival against the harsh environment, rather than too much scary zombie type stuff. Wool series by Hugh Howey (also known as the silo series), After the Lights Go Out by Lili Wilkinson, The moon fall series by Susan Beth Pfeffer (also know as the Survivors series). Ashfall series by Mike Mullin. I cant recall which it was, but either the moonfall and or the Ashfall series are a bit religious, but not too much.
Not truly post-apocalyptic and not a series either (but it is quite a substantial read); Stephen King’s The Stand. I’d say it’s a post-humanity-as-we-know-it-but-Pre-apocalyptic. It’s supernatural and fabbity-fab! Twists and turns. It’s dark in places and hilarious in others. One of my favourites (and no zombies!)
The Water Knife and The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi, stand alone eco-dystopian books are excellent. The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber is dystopian sci-fi about a London minister sent to a colony planet to convert the original occupants.
