Try the Lucifer Box series by Mark Gattiss (he of League of Gentlemen, Sherlock fame etc). Brilliant, tongue in cheek, bit risque but bloody brilliant!
Not familiar with him, but I just looked in my epub stash and have 3 by him . . . might have to give him a whirl . . . put those in my “TO BE READ” folder 😉
This author doesn’t really have too much to offer so far as crime/mystery, but mystery is certainly an element . . . “Everything Changes” by Jonathan Tropper. Tropper writes a very humorous tale in any of his novels . . .”This is where I Leave You” is another good one by Mr. Tropper.
This is a blast from the past. Peter Cheyney’s books from the thirties and forties featuring “Lemmy Caution” and “Slim Callaghan” were funny but probably not PC enough for todays readers. For example, one of his titles was “I’ll Say She Does”. When I got married many moons ago, my wife brought quite a fair number with her. I had never read any of his books before but I must admit I enjoyed them.
This has turned out to be a very enlightening day! I have a copy of T. Hallinan’s “Crashed” . . . in my EPUB bin . . . thanks for the tip . . . I have found 3 new authors to read and one’s I already have novels . . .
If anyone is going to CrimeFest next week, I am on a panel, with 3 other authors who write crime fiction that makes you laugh – the panel is Friday – about 11.50…be pleased to meet anyone from the Crime Book Club – just introduce yourself…

Kind of the kind of it…. Donald Westlake. This Dortmunder series is admired by every crime writer alive. Several are movies now. like The Hot Rock, with Robert Redford miscast as Dortmunder.
The Zack Walker series by Linwood Barclay are amusing. Zack is an ordinary guy, a family man, but he has a tendency to be around when the s*** hits the fan.
