It by Stephen King. Scared the poop out of me. The only one of his books that ever terrified me and made me want to leave the lights on and not go to sleep.

Following because I have yet to find a book that scares me too. Though Joe Hill(Stephen kings son) books are pretty scary

Wondering if he goes by hill because he wants to sell books without his fathers name or because when you say his name it sounds like “joking.”

It is hard to find a scary book, most horror books are just sexually graphic and full of shock factor not scary. The last book that gave me a few chills was “The Amityville Horror” years ago. I hope someone can recommend a good horror to scare your socks off.

I read Misery by Stephen King and that freaked me out, lol. Uh, Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris is very psychological.

I still havent read misery, I’ll add it to my TBR. Behind closed doors was very good but not necessarily scary. But thank you ?

@RiiRii I wasnt sure. Some people think psychological is scary, lol. I’m reading Salem’s Lot by Stephen King right now, and that’s a little creepy, but not scare your pants off, lol.

I haven’t thought about that book since I was in junior high back in the late 70s. It freaked me out. Yikes.

My sister and I were reading it at the same time – back in the day – and we would call each other about all the weird stuff happening as we were reading. She had a large ceramic tiger in her living room and she swore it moved. I woke up one morning and went to open the sliding door in the kitchen, and there were dozens of flies between the screen and glass doors. We still talk about that book!

It or Pet Sematary by Stephen King were pretty scary to me.

The Stand by Stephen King freaked me out the most, but I was pretty young at the time.

I read that probably four times a year. It’s one of my top five favorite books. It’s completely horrifying without being gory. Every time I get a cold I start to freak out. I’m so old I read the original version of the book. Before it was fleshed out by about 200 pages.

1
Dianne

@Lisa I read it in 1979, didn’t know it had been fleshed out. I will have to read it again!

Lisa

Oh my gosh. There are so many characters that are so better developed. More sub storylines. I highly encourage you to read it again. I promise you will not regret it. I would love to know what you think about it after you read it. I predict your jaw will hit the floor.

Barnes and Noble is having a big sale this weekend….

Lisa

Please let me know what you think. I’d love to discuss it with you. I’ve read so many times I know sections of it by heart. You might prefer the original version. Some people do. I’d still love to discuss it with you. Have a great time at B&N. I believe half-price books is having a 20% off sale at all their locations this weekend. If one is close to you.

1
Dianne

@Lisa Half Price Books is right across the street form B&N, but B&N is offering a free tote bag!

0
Lisa

I don’t need any more tote bags. I’d rather have 20% off a used book.

The Amazon description says it’s been restored to the original version.
