Riyria Revelations
Elenium
Memory, Sorrow and Thorn
@Troy thank you
The Dresden Files.
Best of all time
@Gee thank you
@Gee OMG yes and a long series is the best
I never thought I would like any series more than Harry Potter, but Dresden is better imo. I have read most of the mainstream YA series as well and while I enjoyed many of them, none of them hold a Candle to Dresden.
@Gee speaking of which has he come out with any new ones?
Not in like 5 years. He has more than 40 chapters of the next one, “Peace Talks” written.
@Gee cold cases or w.e?
That’s not really a main entry but you’re right, Brief Cases was released last year.
The lightbringer series
@Beth thank you
can’t go wrong with “The way of Kings”. it’s in all the best Fantasy series lists
Anything by Sanderson!! He’s amazing!! Or Robin Hobb beautifully written stories.
@Amanda I just finished his first book, Elantris, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. It had a strong start, but it just….didn’t tie together well at the end. Are his other works better?
@Rebecca yes Elantris was the first book he published. It gets much better.
Have you read lord of the rings yet?
@Ron No, I started reading the hobbit but couldn’t get into it.
I really enjoyed the Black witch Chronicles….

There is only one so far
@Melissa oh dear that means there’s another new series I need to learn about… i was thinking of the newer “study” books
The newer study books are pretty intense and it answers so many questions!

@Amanda I couldn’t get into the first book, the first few chapters where fine but I think i just wasn’t into because I had more books to read. I shall try again with it?
@Emma I love them give them another shot they’re really good or try her other work Strange the Dreamer as it was even better.

The Winternight Trilogy ??
The Briar King by Greg Keyes is very good.
Anything by Sanderson, Laini Taylor, Harry Potter,
The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss ** – hands down one of the best fantasy series I’ve read in years (but only 2 of 3 are written, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the third book for awhile now)
A Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones) – I know it’s crazy popular because of the TV show but I loved those books long before HBO got ahold of them (also a incomplete series, waiting on the Winds of Winter for what feels like an eternity)
The Sword of Truth series by Terry Brooks (I found the first few books of the series amazing, the last few are meh)
The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks
The Wheel of Time series (long series and some are better than others)
The Belgariad by David Eddings
I have so many other recommendations it’s hard to list them all! It’s such a great genre
Anything by Brent Weeks, Patrick Rothfus, or Steven Burst
I read Mortal Instruments book 1 the other day and thought it may have been the worst book I’ve read in years. I’m used to Sanderson and Butcher though.
Throne of Glass is poorly written, but also very entertaining. It’s like the reality TV of the fantasy book world.
It’s pretty bad, tbh. It violates almost everything you should seek to avoid as a writer.
Could you please elaborate?
Thank you?
