Was just going to suggest this. A movie did come out.

3 movies total! The original Bad Seed plays the shrink in the Rob Lowe version

1
Rachel

@KC cool!

0
Janet

@KC Don’t remember a shrink in the original, but I am sure they updated it. Remember Patty McCormack though. So evil. Actually got to meet her once or twice.

1
KC

@Janet No, the original Bad Seed, Patty, plays the shrink in the Rob Lowe version. She even says something like, “You remind me of myself.” ?

1
Charlene

I read The Bad Seed years ago and it came to my mind immediately when I saw your question. I also saw the Patty McCormack movie. The author of the book is William March. It was good and scary! https://www.amazon.com/William-March-Bad-Seed-29/dp/B00HTK34R0

Never read the book, but saw the movie which totally blew my mind with fright and made me hate that I got called that!

If you want to try a classic, try The Bad Seed by William March. An 8 year old kid who also kills to get her way. It was written sometime in the 50s.

I agree, The Bad Seed. I recently saw a remake of the original movie. It was just OK. The book (of course!) has a much creepier impact. The original movie was better also, especially due to the amazing acting of Tom Ewell and A very young Patty McCormack.

@KC my mom wouldn’t let me read it or watch the movies when they were popular. Lol now I do what I want

1
Elaine

@KC oh yes, this is very creepy!

1
KC

@Kathy I wanted to read The Silence of the Lambs when my mom was reading it. I was like 11 or so. She said she’d have to cut out all of the bad words first. She never did and I finally read it 20 years later. It would’ve been a lot of cutting ??

The Last of Us – Rob Ewing. Five children remain on a Scottish island in a postapocolyptic future. More Lord of the Flies creepy than outright horror, but just rereading the first paragraph on my blog when I went to find the title reminded me of how uneasy it made me.

Children of the Corn is one of the stories in Stephen King’s anthology called Night Shift.

1
Terrel

@Kay —I’ll check on Goodreads and see if my local bookstore and library have it. I’m not in a hurry to read it, but it’s fun to read a scary book around Halloween; and then I go back to my non scary reading! ?☺️
