Catch 22, Travels with my Aunt, by Graham Greene, Most of John Mortimer’s “Rumpole” books come to mind. Especially sections between Rumple and She Who Must be Obeyed.
Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett ~ I still laugh when I think about the scene when someone similar to Gollum (from ‘The Lord of the Rings’) appears on the witches boat & the outcome of that meeting?
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend, I’ve lost count how many times I have read it & I still laugh?
Laughed in a good way or laughed in a bad way? I’ve had experiences with both. For example: A book that is the translation of the original French, but is done so poorly that it omits entire sentences and paragraphs? That makes me laugh to the point of insanity. *is offended that this book even exists*. On the other hand, another book that made me laughed was the Harry Potter series. There are very funny things that happen there.
Spike Milligan’s war novels. Hilarious.
Sophie Kinsella’s Undomestic Goddess (read on a sunbed in Egypt), and Fiona Gibson As Good As It Gets (on a sunbed in Zante).
Corey Taylor’s “You’re Making Me Hate You”! Such a hilarious guy!
Shaun Hutson – renegades. A certain scene, that as a young teenager made me both laugh and cringe….
I read that as a teenager too (loved the ending!). Which bit are you talking of?

Agree Hitchhiker and Rankin. Have you tried Terry Pratchett?
