Personally I like the fact a book doesn’t run out of battery and it’s the actual book you’re holding. I hope you’re able to make a choice soon ?

I use my Paperwhite and books. I’m not set on one or the other. However, the Paperwhite is so lightweight. It slips into a small purse for easy carrying. I love lots of paper books I need to read so I still go back and forth

I bought a Kindle when they first came out. I like it for travelling but nothing beats a real book! I’ve bought the books to what I’ve read on my Kindle ?

I thought the exact same thing as you. Now I find I’m the other way round. I love having something so lightweight and books are normally a fraction of the price when you take into account special offers and daily and monthly deals. It’s definitely a matter of personal preference but couldn’t recommend mine highly enough!

I would get the kindle app on your phone first to give it a try and see if digital works for you. I personally love it cause the convenience of always having a book (or 500) available and in my pocket or purse (if I take my actual kindle with me) but I do still love my regular books while home too.

I always said I’d never be a digital reader! Thennnnnnnn I got my paperwhite lol
I love love love it!!!!! What I do is just download all the free books I want and if I ever have an author I really enjoy or a book I have to own forever then I’ll go buy it for my library. I take my kindle everywhere! Its so much more convenient than carrying around 2 or 3 books at a time. And it fits in my back pocket with my cell! U cant go wrong.

I love my Kindle. I have over 1,000 books on it. It’s so much more convenient than physical books. I was a purist for years and was adamant about only reading “real books” That all changed quickly when I borrowed a friends Kindle for a weekend.

I love my kindle. So compact and practical for sticking in a handbag, taking on holiday and loading a stack of books onto it. Also love how I have the kindle app on my phone and can pick up where I left off on my kindle and vice versa. But I do still enjoy the feel and smell of a book. Prefer paperback as find hardbacks too heavy to hold.

I love physical books, but I also love my Kindle! I have a two-hour commute back and forth to work every day, lugging big hard backs is not always convenient but my Kindle always is. Also, I always have a book on the ready so when I finish one, I just press the button and start the next one without even blinking. I have the Kindle Paperwhite which has a backlight that you can adjust. So even in the dark you can read! It’s pretty nice!

I felt the same way. You can get one of the very first kindles refurbished for $30. That way you have a basic kindle and can decide if you don’t like it. If not, you’re spending $30 instead of $100+

I love my Kindle so much more than I ever thought I would. I have a Paperwhite and I carry it with me everywhere. It’s small enough to fit into my small bags (my husband was shocked to discover I brought it to a hockey game). I also love how I can read at night without disturbing my husband. book & kindle..

Book on the shelves.. it triggers your memory and you relive the story each time you see the book.
Books I read at home, so I do not damage them.
Kindle in the dark, in the pool, while traveling.
Kindle because it connects to my library…

(And I do audiobook too!!)

0

@Sarah it is the best thing I ever got for myself. It’s the perfect size, easy to handle and lightweight. The screen has a matte finish, non glare and you can read on the beach in bright sunlight with no problem. It holds tons of books, you can adjust the text size, change the font if you wish, so it’s very easy on your eyes.

I was the same omce…. now I couldn’t do without my kindle!! I still have paper books but I do 95% of my reading off the kindle now.

It’s really easy to read, light weight, easy to make notes or highlights without feeling like I should be shot for desecration and holds currently 1000 plus titles. You can get many titles free or cheap (99p) and if you have kindle unlimited (I don’t) it’s a good way to explore new and unusual novels.

Elyse

Same for me…
same as Alyssia!!

I couldn’t live with my paperwhite.
I own two of them.
A house filled with books too.
But -Reading in bed with a paperweight is the easiest most comfortable way to read.
With a paperweight you can always read in a dark place… in a theater….
…in the car at night while being a passenger…
And best of all next to your sleeping husband while under the covers.
And can get downloaded books at great prices.

If you aren’t sure what you want to read and jump back and forth between books, Kindle for sure. If you take books on vacation, Kindle saves on space. If you want to save money on books, ebooks are normally cheaper. Real books are great, but Kindles allow me to carry multilpe books and magazines without killing my back.

I don’t know if I could go back, it started as a way to read at nighttime while my boyfriend sleeps but now.. Its much more comfortable than reading an actual book, I can get any book I want whenever I want and I can highlight words if I don’t understand them.
Buuut, only with the Kindle, I had tried one of the ereaders that was like a iPad before and they were not fun and hurt my head.

I was really disappointed when I received a paper white as a gift. Since it was from my sons I felt obligated to give it a try. I don’t believe I’ve read a paper book since then, and I’m now on my third Kindle (my dog ate my last one, and I lost the first one)! I absolutely love it. It fits in my purse, it’s convenient for travel, doctor appointments, using the Goodreads app, shopping for books, reading in the dark, and I’m sure some of the things that I haven’t thought of. I highly recommend giving one a try! One other major thing is I have a library at my fingertips open 24/7 when I use my Libby or overdrive apps.

I love having the option to read on my device. It will never truly replace the feel, smell or nostalgia that comes with a book. With having a bookshelf and scanning titles. But I do like the convenience of it. But i read on my phone not a kindle ??‍♀️ late at night when we are in bed, the light I would need to read a book would drive my SO crazy so I use my kindle app on my phone at night. Or when I’m out and about doing things.

For years my husband was trying to convince me to get a Kindle, and for years I kept saying it’s not for me. Until last year, when I became sick of carrying heavy books with me. So he got me kindle Oasis for Christmas and it’s the best present I ever got. Currently, I have around 170 books on it, all ready to be read at my fingertips. I pop it in my bag, it’s light as a feather. Wherever I am, when I finish one book, I can immediately start another. I also read more because it’s so easy to carry anywhere, even in my little bag. So for me, kindle is the perfect choice x

I’ve had two kindles over the years. Not touched either as a book is not a book if I can’t turn the pages with satisfaction, enjoy the aroma and feel of it or delight in the cover illustrations. Yep I’m an old fashioned tree book reader and it delights all of my senses. Toss the kindle idea ?

You have all your library right in that little device, and best of all you can adjust the font and text size to make it easy to see. I couldn’t live without it

@Debbie I admit font size matters when I buy a book.

@Alison yes, I’ve always had poor vision since childhood, and now it’s just about impossible for me to see regular sized print. I do know what you mean about real, paper books though. I still keep copies of my most dear favorites.
