I really loved that book!

Kerri

@Linda I haven’t met many people who have read it too. I’m not sure if they never heard of it or if it’s bc they “think” its about Buddhism?

0
Linda

@Kerri I saw it at the library and just thought….why not!! I was glad I didn’t pass it up.

Sixty-three years ago (I was six) I spotted a book entitled “An illustrated History of Great Britain” in a bookshop window in Portsmouth. I had ten shillings but the book was twelve and six. I looked at my Dad and he said go on then. It was my very first history book, the first of so many.
I still have it complete with dust cover.

Most books I read have some part that sticks with me. The ending of The Dreamblood trilogy was the most recent book I’ve read that had a profound effect on me personally. Holy cow, that one came out of no where and totally shook me to my core.

The Glass Castle for me too! I’m an elementary teacher, and it made me realize how much kids can’t control in their lives and environments. It also gave me hope for my disadvantaged students to overcome their situations.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green has changed my life and helps me to remember to not be afraid to step out of my comfort zone and talk to people I normally wouldn’t, and it helps me not take things or people for granted

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (i think thats the author) has changed my life and helped me remember that even the little things I say or do can affect someone deeply so I need to be careful of what I do and say

How I Saved The World…In 65 Days by Michele Weber Hurwitz has always stuck with me because it helps me remember that even the littlest good things can make a huge difference and help others to be happy

There are so many more but I’ll just leave it at these three lol

ok obviously Harry Potter but like I think Game Of Thrones changed my perspective a little bit because the characters I thought I hated I ended up understanding them and liking them kind of…? So I guess it made me understand that bad guys aren’t only bad, they’re human too.. 😛

So many books have had an influence on my life, however, after more than sixty-five years of reading and collecting, losing my mobility and so many hobbies and interests, I merely bought and collected books I liked with no thought or passion. Then I read ‘Awakening’ by Sharon Bolton. It re-awakened my desire to collect as the collector I had been years ago. I now have signed first editions of everything Sharon has written and started collections of other crime writers, always in signed edition form and many in original ‘manuscript’ form. I now avidly collect over a dozen authors and while waiting for them to write something new I read other via kindle, and if one of them bites hard enough, then they start filling my shelves 🙂
