If you are looking for non fiction a professor of mine co authored a book a few years ago called Amish Grace about the community response to the Nickel Mines shooting. I would highly recommend it.

If you want to expand to the Mennonites, Shirley Showalter has a memoir called BLUSH that’s very good, about growing up in the 50’s.

Blush was a good read. I appreciated the fact that is was a memoir, not fiction.

Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy by Kraybill, Nolt, and Weaver-Zercher. It’s about the school shooting near Nickel Mines, PA, and the extraordinary aftermath. Fascinating and hopeful.
There is a list of further academic reading in the back.
