Just my 2 cents…I do better if it’s not fantasy with a lot of world building. That way if you miss a bit from either “spacing out” or people interrupting you it’s not the end of the world. Like I’m not thinking “wait, there are dragons all of a sudden?” I do mostly contemporary books like thrillers and mysteries.
Ashley Rose Harrell it’s ok. I don’t beat myself up when it happens because I assume it happens to everyone. And you can also go back :30 seconds or whatever it takes. I though Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult was really good on audio. Like a little movie.
I agree with Tricia Coan. Fantasy or anything more complex is hard for me to focus on with audio. I stick to contemporary or non-fiction audio. Try Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, or They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera!
not stand alone (exactly) but Stephen King’s collections of short stories make wonderful audio books. and especially if you’re new to the audio book style, you won’t space out too much.
Geekerella To all the boys I’ve loved series Don’t get crazy rich asians. Too many perspectives to keep straight. Lucky in love is a bit annoying since all the guys all sound the same
Ready Player One and They Both Die at the End are good YA stand-alone audios. I also really enjoy thrillers on audio – All the Missing Girls, Everything You Want Me to Be, and Sharp Objects were good.
Sometimes i do both like I’ll have the audible for my book I’m reading so i can read & listen when i can’t physically hold the book! Works so good! And it might be easier to get into them that way to start

@Tricia yeah I’m worried that I’ll space out cause it seems audiobooks always need your attention

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz read by Lin-Manuel Miranda
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Agreed! The audiobook was so unique and well done.
@Amanda I’m listening to it now while reading along to the physical book and it’s phenomenal!
Agreed! The best audiobook I’ve listened to so far!❤

The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I will never not recomend this book.
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. It has a full cast including Neil himself and it’s fantastic.
I cannot recommend this book enough. One of my favorites of all time. I read it to my classes this year and they loved it.
We are the ants by Shaun David Hutchinson.
The host Stephanie Meyer
Dry by Neal and Jarrod Shusterman was a great audiobook and had a full cast.
