Robin Hobb The Realm of the Elderings Series. It consist or five trilogies. I just finished the first trilogy …. The Farseer …. and it was excellent! It is suggested you read them in order, so I have just started the second trilogy…The LiveShip Traders
I could never get into her books, and I think it may be because I started reading her works when she had literally just self-published her very first books. Now, I’m not by any means a publisher or agent or editor, and don’t have a degree in writing or English or literature or anything, but when I started to read her stuff, I just could not get past how many grammatical errors I found. Her very, very first works were (I’m so very sorry to say) so terrible and mistake ridden that I had such a hard time even finishing them because I couldn’t look past the errors. I’m sure, now that she is officially a published author, her work is good. But because of what I went through reading those very early publications of hers, I could never bring myself to pick up anything else of hers.
@Chelsie awe sorry to hear you had a bad experience with her books. I started reading her books a few years ago when i had got back into reading, and i fell absolutely in love with her books! I started with the trylle trilogy and now she is one of my favourite authors. Hope you find some good books to read! Happy reading! ?
Oh, hon, don’t be sorry! Since then, I’ve found plenty of books – no shortage in sight, actually! Haha! To be honest, I did like the concept of her stories, so maybe I shall pick one up the next time I go to the store and give her a try again. I’ve heard her zombie (I think) book is good. I shall see!
YA: Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce. Adult-ish: Discworld by Terry Pratchett and Witcher by Sapkowski (English translation is not the best, but still great) I don’t know about the YA series, but the other two will probably be widely accepted as Literature, if that matters. All three are quality writing, serious themes, interesting story, and very entertaining.

Harry Potter doesn’t count, because it would essentially disqualify everything else.
